Well, Edgar tells me that the people NOT defending Brand have Ukraine flags in their bios, making them “narcissistic woke-left fake virtue signallers”, so maybe he is innocent after all!
Also, as I’ve learnt from this reply guy: #LetWomenSpeak — but only unless they have credible testimony of sexual abuse at the hands of a privileged man, because letting women speak then is “fascist”.
@Steve_Cooke I guess you’ve seen this:
I probably shouldn’t keep going should I
George “rape is just bad sexual etiquette” Galloway has been amplifying quite a few right-wing extremists in his quest to exonerate his friend Russell.
Chris Williamson of course.
Hopefully the last one, via @Gledster. Note the capital T in Allison Pearson’s “They”, the hallmark of conspiracist thinking.
@SecretGuy2020 @IndiaWilloughby However, I’m not making a point about Brand’s guilt or innocence (hopefully he’ll stand trial so we can be certain), so much as about the his allies’ blind defence & the cynical/gullible conspiracism that says he’s being attacked by the blob because he’s some kind of truth teller
@Gledster No that wasn’t the last one. I should’ve guessed that Syrian chemical weapon truther and Covid denialist Piers Robinson would be on the Brandwagon
@Gledster And the other members of Robinson’s wacky chemical weapons denialist “Working Group”, Tim Hayward (of @EdinburghUni) and Tara MacCormack (of Spiked).
Some helpful feedback here from some Brand fans.

On Friday, a California storekeeper, Laura Ann Carlton, was shot dead for flying a Pride flag. The killer has been named as Travis Ikeguchi. The son of a Florida state trooper, he was a Christian fascist radicalised online...
He was a prolific re/tweeter: I just looked through 3 months of his output. As well as Christian fundamentalism and a tsunami of homophobia + transphobia, there’s a wide range of conspiracy theories, linking mainstream conservative anti-LGBT culture wars with fascist terror…
At the heart of his cosmology is a set of hate figures he identified as the globalist elite or the Illuminati — Gates, Soros, Schwab, Fauci, the World Economic Forum. These are shared obsessions with QAnon, anti-vaxxers and those who follow the “Great Reset” conspiracy theory.
Inspiring general strike in Al-Suwayda, Syria, including by shopkeepers and public sector workers. Slogans call for dignity and reject the house of Assad.
In an effort to contain protest, yesterday Syria’s dictator Assad doubled state salaries (they’re now just 8% of an average family’s cost of living). Seven minutes later he raised the price of diesel by 300% and gasoline by 170%.
Mass protests across southern Syria, especially Daraa, after Friday prayers last night, demanding the fall of the House of Assad and decent living conditions. (Political liberty and social struggles are intertwined under a warlord kleptocracy.)
As I’ve finally got a minute, I’ll post some of my pics of the fash that came to shout at drag queens and children at the Honor Oak pub in SE London on Saturday…
The guy in the sunglasses here is Philip Curson from Essex, a veteran of several fascist organisations, who has served time for a really horrific racist attack.
#NAFO fellas have flooded the replies to this to say it’s fake news. Thing is, it’s not exactly *fake*; it’s heavily *embroidered*. Specifically (1) “embedded with Azov” seems to be Alex’s invention. In fact the guy was “in contact with” Above.
(2) Alex zooms to trivial 🇺🇦 links but misses links to Assad (the European Solidarity Front for Syria shares the same chemical weapons conspiracy theories as Grayzone) or or the way it promotes some of the same anti-vaxx messages shared by Grayzone editor, Max Blumenthal
(3) I think Alex might have mistranslated Italian sources as saying some group members travelled to Israel 🇮🇱 to train in Krav Maga. The Italian sources I’ve read say that they travelled to Poland for this. But Israel gets the conspiracy theorist pulse racing a bit more…
On the eve of war, Grayzone hosted the Russian ambassador to the UN scoffing at the silly idea that Russia was about to invade Ukraine. Definitely not a Russian state propaganda site.
Oh it wasn’t a Russian invasion. Russia was “sending peacekeeping troops to END the grInding conflict”. Definitely not a Russian state propaganda website.
I’ve been holding off on this thread until after the elections.
Now it’s clear Starmer’s Labour didn’t do as badly as the Tories & JC-loyalists hoped, but it didn’t do as well as the current leadership’s loyalists were hoping…
…Crucially Labour advanced in southern marginals it needs to win to form a government, and gained ground in some key “red wall” areas such as Dudley…
…The fact Lab didn’t win as many Con seats as & LDs in England isn’t that big a worry, as it shows solid foundation for tactical anti-Tory vote — and unless it regains Scotland, Labour can only form government in some kind of “progressive alliance”, so needs this foundation…
