Te Pāti Māori Co-leaders @Rawiri_Waititi and @whaeadeb are demanding that the NZ Government expel the Israeli ambassador if Israel does not immediately implement a ceasefire and open safe humanitarian aid corridors into Gaza.
We condemn Hamas for murdering civilians and taking civilian hostages. We also condemn the retaliatory actions of the Israeli government. The indiscriminate bombing of Gaza, destroying hospitals and civilian apartment buildings, is unconscionable.
Targeting civilians is a breach of international law, as is collective punishment – there can be no justification for blocking civilian access to water, power and humanitarian aid.
Hamas must immediately release hostages and work towards peace. Israel must end their violent onslaught in Gaza and allow international aid groups to help the Palestinian people.
Western countries are willfully in denial about the long-term aggression by Israel against Palestine. They have instituted an apartheid regime and have blockaded Gaza by land, air and sea.
The genocidal rhetoric of Israeli ministers and officials is well documented. Their attempts to dehumanise the indigenous peoples of Palestine must be resisted.
Israel’s colonial occupation of Palestinian lands, engineered by the British Empire, has led to decades of pain, suffering and bloodshed. The international community must exert pressure to end the occupation, the blockade, and the continued confiscation of Palestinian land.

.@Rawiri_Waititi and @whaeadeb are calling on Prime Minister Chris Hipkins to announce an equity-focused financial relief fund for whānau who have lost homes and belongings in all flood impacted areas, and meet the full costs of uninsured whānau.
“There are thousands of whānau who have been severely impacted by flooding but who don’t have insurance. This is absolutely devastating; many have lost everything." @Rawiri_Waititi
"Central and local government must accept their own failures in not properly investing in infrastructure and not grappling with the reality of climate adaptation. This is their responsibility." @whaeadeb

We acknowledge the outstanding contribution Jacinda Ardern has made to our country. She has led our country through its darkest times with absolute dignity while managing to keep our country’s economic status in line with the most successful OECD countries in the world.
“Our country needed the grace of a wahine to lead us through this period of our history and she did so with the utmost humility and integrity. It is a sad day when an outstanding leader has been driven from office for constant personalisation and vilification." @whaeadeb
"Her whanau have withstood the ugliest attacks over the last two years with what we believe to be the most demeaning form of politics we have ever seen.” @whaeadeb

Following violent online threats which targeted our MP’s, marae and te iwi Māori, Te Pāti Māori have called for the establishment of a joint taskforce to investigate anti-Māori hate speech from white supremacists. Māori deserve to feel safe and protected. #WhiteSupremacy
“We are experiencing an unprecedented increase in racist rhetoric across social media by white supremacist organisations that is inciting hate speech and violence against tangata whenua” - @packer_deb
“We are acutely aware of the National Security indicators that capture specific data about white supremacists organisations and nowhere are there specific indicators that capture terrorism or hate speech against Maori. We need to do better than that” - @packer_deb
