Te Pāti Māori Co-leaders @Rawiri_Waititi and @whaeadeb are demanding that the NZ Government expel the Israeli ambassador if Israel does not immediately implement a ceasefire and open safe humanitarian aid corridors into Gaza. We condemn Hamas for murdering civilians and taking civilian hostages. We also condemn the retaliatory actions of the Israeli government. The indiscriminate bombing of Gaza, destroying hospitals and civilian apartment buildings, is unconscionable.

.@Rawiri_Waititi and @whaeadeb are calling on Prime Minister Chris Hipkins to announce an equity-focused financial relief fund for whānau who have lost homes and belongings in all flood impacted areas, and meet the full costs of uninsured whānau. “There are thousands of whānau who have been severely impacted by flooding but who don’t have insurance. We acknowledge the outstanding contribution Jacinda Ardern has made to our country. She has led our country through its darkest times with absolute dignity while managing to keep our country’s economic status in line with the most successful OECD countries in the world. “Our country needed the grace of a wahine to lead us through this period of our history and she did so with the utmost humility and integrity. Following violent online threats which targeted our MP’s, marae and te iwi Māori, Te Pāti Māori have called for the establishment of a joint taskforce to investigate anti-Māori hate speech from white supremacists.
