MEGA THREAD!! 🇨🇦 Confiscation “Buyback” spending exposed?

On Sept 17, @DonPlett shared a govt response to an #OPQ on buyback spending. Within that document we see $9,095,398 in “consulting” to Samson & Assoc.

So who are Samson & Assoc? I went to find out.

On their website, they list a number of offices, many are very close to me here in Ottawa so I figured I’d jump in the car and go see if they’d talk to me. Surely a company with over $9M in taxpayer funding would have offices full of people who could answer a few simple questions … right? 🤷🏼‍♀️🤔

So I Google the Ottawa office and check the street view … looks like a house to me but who knows, right? Maybe it’s an old image on Google, maybe the house has been renovated into cozy office space.

Let’s go see … 👀🚗

Here’s a video of me walking up to the house. It’s a noisy video because of some construction across the street, but you get the point.

No signage, no indication of a business, no nothing.

So I ring the doorbell …

Please forgive me the unflattering view of the camera, as I didn’t want to expose the people I spoke to, so it’s turned towards me.

An adorable little old man in his pyjamas answers the door 🚪… listen to the audio, remembering they just received $9M of your money … they just use this address for mail.

So off to Gatineau I go!! This is their “head office”. Surely I’ll find some action here out of this $9M consulting company … right?

Things are looking up!! It’s an actual office building with signage and everything.

Let’s go in …

So I head in and from between the two doors I can see the lights are on but there’s not a soul in sight. Inner door is locked, I knock. A lady comes and lets me in, either an admin or a cleaning lady or something. NOBODY else is there. She tells me to speak to “Mathieu” …

I ask her for his business card and she brings me in. There’s no literature, no business cards, none of the usual promotional material you see in an office waiting room. In fact, she can’t even find a pen and paper to write it down so she wanders off into another room to look.

She comes back, with an email address scribbled on a post it note and I thank her for her time.

Surely I’ll have better luck at the Chelsea, QC office 12 minutes away.

Samson & Associates must be a big outfit to bill such large amounts, right?

Things are really looking up. They’re listed right on the main board in the lobby. Surely this consulting company will be here and able to respond to my queries, right?

I climb the stairs to the 2nd floor. They’re listed as “Suite 203” … I’m walking around this open concept office area full of building contractors and construction design companies and spot one guy heading out as I’m heading in …

In a tiny corner desk area located within a construction design office I spy “Samson” on a door and head over, filming through the glass of the 1st office, peering into the tiny inner office of Samson.

Samson Design Graphique … this is NOT Samson & Associates consulting. 🤔🤷🏼‍♀️

And so that’s it … a large $9M “consulting firm” with offices across ON and QC and not a soul around, an old man in pyjamas who admits it’s for mail purposes and a design company with a construction firm 🫠🤷🏼‍♀️🇨🇦
