Personal … I’ve been on provincial wait lists for a decade or more waiting for a family doctor. I’ve joined Facebook groups that help find one. I’ve done media interviews on this. I’m a 52 year old Canadian woman who hasn’t had a simple physical in 20 years. I’ve travelled across the border to pay cash to see a doctor for many years.

At this moment as I type this, I’m sitting in a very crowded waiting room for a meeting with a doctor accepting patients.

I might actually access healthcare in the country I pay taxes in. I can hardly believe it’s happening 🥹

Please, please work out for me 🙏 🇨🇦🆘🏥 Some lady just threw a wild meltdown in the waiting room. They have their scale in the actual front waiting room. They don’t have sticks to test urine. The lady beside me is struggling with a screaming baby, I ask if she needs a hand and she tells me to f*ck off. The line up is out the door and they’re turning people away.

God help me. Whatever. Just please give me a doctor.

On their website, they list a number of offices, many are very close to me here in Ottawa so I figured I’d jump in the car and go see if they’d talk to me. Surely a company with over $9M in taxpayer funding would have offices full of people who could answer a few simple questions … right? 🤷🏼‍♀️🤔

“Just because” isn’t enough. The GIC must respect and honour the constraint.

Speaks to the respondents justification of “promoting public safety” and suggests they’re using it as their trump card to deflect responsibility for restraint. A statement of “it’s for public safety” isn’t a trump card to do whatever you want.
