The International Criminal Court has just announced arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant. HuffPost diplomatic correspondent @AkbarSAhmed says it will also be a major test for the U.S., Israel's closest ally.
After a historic vote in the U.S. Senate, in which nearly a fifth of the chamber voted against arms shipments to Israel, the Biden administration is wrong to believe "people will get over this," says @AkbarSAhmed.

Today marks Juneteenth, the oldest known celebration of the liberation of Black enslaved people in the U.S.
On June 19, 1865, federal troops arrived in Galveston, Texas, to announce that Black people in the state — the last area to abolish slavery — were freed under the 1863 Emancipation Proclamation. Across the state, liberated Black people abandoned their sites of enslavement.
In the years after liberation, many Black Americans held picnics, parades and gave speeches annually to recognize their freedom. More elaborate celebrations were held in later decades, such as rodeos, street fairs, formal balls and ball games.
