The Witcher 3 is one of the most detailed open world games ever made, even almost 10 years later, it really set a standard for all RPGs after it.
Here are 10 hidden & terrifying Easter eggs from TW3 that you probably missed. A Thread 🧵
1) Ghost Ship
Around midnight in this location in Skellige, you can come across an extremely rare Ghost Ship that hasn't been seen by most players, it is a bit bigger than Geralt's own boat and is definitely paying homage to the Flying Dutchman.
2) Ciri has been to Night City
Ciri has seemingly been to the Cyberpunk universe at some point, she describes it in a ton of detail in this specific dialogue exchange here, I still wish we got a nod to Ciri as a character in Cyberpunk via a side quest.
3) Killing too many cows
So a bit of context behind this one: Back in the day, there used to be an easy money-making method in TW3 where you could kill cows around towns, take their loot and sell it for a nice profit.
CDPR, instead of nerfing the payouts to fix this exploit, decided instead to spawn a massive infinitely high-level monster that absolutely DESTROYS Geralt in combat if you kill too many cows in quick succession
4) The Tax Collector
Added with the Heart of Stone DLC, the Tax Collector as an encounter occurs when Geralt comes into a lot of money a bit too quickly, he will proceed to ask Geralt about various money glitches and if he has engaged in them.
This is genuinely hilarious and completely fourth-wall-breaking and I adore just how serious this character seems

5) Tyrion Lannister
You can seemingly find Tyrion in TW3 who appears to have met his grisly fate in a sky cell similar to those in The Eyrie where he was imprisoned in season one of Game of Thrones.
6) Weeping Angels
In Velen, you can find the "Weeping Angels" statues (A Doctor Who reference) that change positions whenever Geralt looks away from them.
Encountering those at night is genuinely a terrifying experience.
7) Dark Souls Bonfire
In Blood & Wine during the "Beyond Hill and Dale" quest near the end of it after defeating the Cloud Giant Boss, you can find a Bonfire with a sword embedded into it.
An obvious reference to the Bonfires from Dark Souls!
8) DRM
Here's a hilarious bit, During the "The Tower Outta Nowheres" quest you have to de-activate the Tower's security systems to free this Mage.
The tower is outfitted with a Defensive Regulatory Magicon (DRM) and can only be removed using "Gottfried's Omni-opening Grimoire" (GOG)
This is a pretty meta joke on CDPR's anti-DRM stance with their own game launcher GOG.
9) War, War never changes
You can come across a Peasant who repeats the iconic Fallout line "War, War never changes"
The other NPC's response to this is equally hilarious "Neither do you! lazy as you always been!"
10) CD Projekt Red
And for the final easter egg, deep out of bounds in Blood & Wine lies a beautiful portrait of the entire dev team at CDPR who worked on this incredible title that has truly defined a generation ❤️
Can't wait to see what these guys cook up with TW4
Be sure to follow me for more threads like this plus thoughts, reviews, and so much more!
It's crazy how much was packed into The Witcher 3 considering it was CDPR's first ever open world game, there is arguably much more content here than there was even in Cyberpunk, and I can't wait to see how Witcher 4 manages to surpass both those games.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is easily still the most detailed open world game ever made, even 6 years later, nothing has come close.
Here are 10 amazing details from RDR2 that will literally blow your mind that you probably missed. A Thread 🧵
1) You can move turbines
If you shoot turbines in the right spots with an arrow, you can see the turbine realistically being pushed towards where you shot it at.
2) Decomposing
ALL bodies in RDR2 realistically decompose in real-time, that includes both humans and animals, going all the way to only skeleton remains being left behind.
Bodies can also be eaten in pieces by different animals, just try throwing someone into a pig pen and see what happens, it's dark.
STALKER 2 has been anticipated for a long time, I finally got around to play it and I can confirm it lives up to the hype. It's also filled with wild Easter eggs & references.
These are 8 Secrets & Easter eggs from STALKER 2 that you might have missed. A Thread 🧵
1) Dark Souls Bonfire
Not far from the burnt forest, you can find a bonfire taken straight from Dark Souls, complete with a sword sticking out of it and everything.
You can also rest by the fire and play your guitar. I adore when games reference the bonfires. Isn't it crazy how the Souls games basically re-invented the concept of checkpoints for a ton of games using the bonfire system?
2) Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare
You can find the exact sniper rifle McMillian and Captain Price used in CoD4's Pripyat mission "One Shot One Kill" placed in pretty much the exact same location as the game.
You can find this on the top floor of the Polissya hotel.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is known for being a realistic game, but from Bigfoot to Whispering Forests, it’s actually packed with horror and completely supernatural events.
Here are 10 secrets and haunting easter eggs from RDR2 that will keep you up at night. A Thread 🧵
1) Whispering Forest
In the forest around Roanoke Valley, you can sometimes hear ghostly whispers, their source appears to be a deceased couple named Eugene Hutton and Ethel Boshared who were killed for witchcraft. you can actually see their entire story at the theatre in a movie called "The Ghastly Serenade"
Here are some of the things that can be heard:
"Must be a sick calf looking for its momma, they've been known to bawl like that"
"You should be ashamed of yourself, Eugene Hutton."
"I need to get back home! I need to get back home!"
2) Bigfoot
Around Mount Shann, you can find a skeleton of a giant human-like creature under a cliffside. Bigfoot previously made an appearance in RDR1's Undead Nightmare
This creature seems to strongly resemble Bigfoot. Arthur/John note down the skeleton in their journal as "Giant Remains"
Arthur: Found a massive skeleton. Wonder how big the man was, or if he was a man at all.
John: I found what seemed like a giant’s skeleton.
GTA 4 is widely considered the darkest & most realistic GTA but despite that, most people don't know that it has a ton of secrets and Easter eggs that you probably missed.
These are GTA 4's most wild and genuinely terrifying secrets & easter eggs, A Thread🧵
1) Hillary Clinton
Hillary Clinton is in GTA 4, sort of.
The Statue of Liberty called (The Statue of Happiness) in-game is actually depicting Hillary Clinton holding a coffee cup (Hot Coffee reference) and a tablet in the other hand.
This was most likely placed as a jab towards Clinton as she was one of the biggest critics against GTA San Andreas and it's "Hot Coffee" mod (explains why she is holding that) and went on record many times demanding more regulation for video games because of San Andreas.
The tablet says:
"“Send us your brightest, your smartest, your most intelligent,
Yearning to breathe free and submit to our authority,
Watch us trick them into wiping rich people's asses,
While we convince them it's a land of opportunity.”
— JULY IV
MDCCLXXVI"
2) Heart of Liberty City
Inside the Statue of Happiness, behind a hidden door bearing the sign "No Hidden Content" you can find a ladder inside the statue of liberty that leads to this MASSIVE beating heart inside that seems to be held up by chains.
You can't interact with this heart but it's a truly strange easter egg.
GTA Trilogy Definitive Editions are FINALLY fixed.
After 3 years of waiting, GTA:DE finally recieved a massive patch that has changed these remasters' visuals from the ground up and fixed a ton of issues.
Here are 10 of the biggest changes with the new patch. A Thread 🧵
1) Classic Lighting
All three titles of the Trilogy have received a "Classic Lighting" setting that completely transforms each game's visuals to resemble the originals more faithfully.
San Andreas's Los Santos has that orange haze back now, The Desert got it's purple sky look back as well. Vice City is far more colorful and GTA 3 looks much more gritty. Finally respecting the original artists intent with these games.
BEFORE VS AFTER
2) FOG IS BACK
This has restored the gigantic feeling of these games' maps.
GTA 3, Vice City and MOST IMPORTANTLY, SAN ANDREAS all now have volumetric fog effects making a return!
This means that you can no longer see the entire map of GTA San Andreas by just standing in a high spot or see Mount Chilliad from Grove Street.
GTA 4 is one of the most cutting edge games ever. 16 years later It’s incredible how Rockstar managed to create a level of detail that surpasses even GTA V.
Here are 10 mind-blowing small & hidden details from GTA IV that prove it was way ahead of its time. A Thread 🧵
1) Water Physics
GTA 4 straight up has one of the best implementations of water physics I have ever seen in an open world game.
Water reacts to the exact size of a vehicle dropped into it with proper ripple effects that last beyond the initial impact.
This is on top of the fact that water reacts realistically to helicopters being flown near it, and also the player himself crashing into it plus explosions and bullets.
2) Disarming Enemies
This is one feature that was unfortunately completely cut in GTA 5.
You can shoot weapons out of NPCs hands causing them to simply run away in fear afterwards.
This feature was brought back for RDR2 and hopefully will make it across to GTA 6!
