πŸ† With the year coming to a close, it's time to celebrate some of the transwomen (also known as "men") who have won in women's cycling in 2024.

These males are an oppressed minority, yet they're brave enough to show up to women's bike races and WIN.

πŸ§΅πŸ‘‡ Image

Arya Elowen, formerly known as Michael Pillman, took some women's cat 4 wins in Colorado. He even took the women's cat 4 crit championship title!

I wonder why this talented athlete never won during his years of racing in the men's 4s. Image
Kylie (Kyle) Small is no stranger to the top women's podium step. Here he is at the Littleton Twilight Crit and the Maverick Classic.

(The top podium step was considerably more elusive when he was racing against fellow males.) Image
Image
Lesley (Wesley) Mumford had a great 2024 women's cyclocross season in Colorado. Image
Image
Remember when "Prim Rose" won the beginner women's category at the Echo Red mountain bike race? He was so proud! Image
Image
Cara (Cameron) Dixon was lauded as being the "first place woman" at Badlands 2024.

Interesting fact: Dixon is male. Image
Here's male Claire (Ivan) Law winning the women's cat 3 circuit race at the Tucson Bicycle Classic. Image
Image
Katheryn "KJ" (James) Phillips takes women's masters podiums pretty frequently. He's obviously a very talented athlete when it comes to women's masters bike racing. Image
Image
"Chloe Spritz" has taken a LOT of women's wins this season. For some reason he didn't win as much when he raced as Cole Sprague in the men's category. Image
Image
"Sofia" Zarate looked very proud to take the women's win at El Rey de la Montana in Mexico. Image
Image
Adriana (Gerrit) Postema took the win for @ucdavis in the women's collegiate C at the Cat's Hill Crit. Image
Eva (Matthew) Kloiber took some women's gravel wins this season. Image
Image
You might recognize Tessa (Michael) Johnson from his cyclocross and track wins. But did you know that he also takes women's cat 3/4 wins on the road? Image
Image
Remember when the "first women-only downhill race" was held in Oregon?

Oh, also, remember when a man won first place and prize money in the pro/open category in that race?

Here's Ash (Max) Fierek on the top step. Image
Robin Chapman (Robert Harris) is a newcomer to women's bike racing in the PNW. He still took some wins, though! Here he is in the leader's jersey for the women's 4/5 in the Seward Park series. Image
Here's Eva "Henry" Lin on the top step at the Helen Poole 4th of July crit in Davis, California. Image
Henrietta (Henry) Watts is always proud to stand on a women's podium. Image
Averi Firari made up the female half of the winning m/f team at the Appalachian Journey gravel race. Interestingly, Averi Firari is a male who once went by the name "David Flaten." Image
Jenna (Jimmy) Lingwood is really good at women's cycling. Here he is beating two teammates to take the women's 1/2 win at Starcrossed. Image
Image
Zoey (Zakkary) Marks hasn't been racing for long, but he has taken quite a few women's wins. He's just really good at women's crits and road races. Image
Image
Antonia (Mattias) Saelzer seems to constantly be on podiums in women's downhill mountain bike racing. He took the overall women's win in the Deache Series in 2024. Image
Catherine (Nicholas) Barnwell is a relative newcomer to the sport, but he has had quite a few women's wins and podiums. Image
Image
Here's Jordan Lothrop in πŸ₯‡ at the Pacific GP in Canada. Like so many other men in women's cycling, Lothrop's results improved when he switched to racing in the women's category. Image
Skyler (Daniel) Lemay was very proud to take first place in the women's TT at the Swift Summit NW. Image
Image
Here's Jacqueline (Jacob) Mautner with the win in the women's 41-50 category at Grinduro Pennsylvania 2024. Image
Austin Killips set the women's record on the Tour Divide this year. He also won the women's 100 mile at Grounded Nebraska. Image

When I post about men racing in the women's category, I often get questions along the lines of, "How did he do in the men's category?"

I'm going to start posting some comparisons.

Today let's look at Henry Lin (πŸ“·left) vs "Eva" Lin (πŸ“·right)

πŸ§΅πŸ‘‡ Image
Image
Here are Henry Lin's road racing results from road-results.com

Looks like Lin started racing in college at @SJSU. He got one road podium and otherwise mid- to back-of-the-pack results. (These are reasonable results for a beginner and nothing to feel bad about.)

Btw DNP stands for "Did Not Place." Depending on the type of race and size of the field, sometimes officials only give placements to a certain number of riders.Image
Here are Henry Lin's results after switching to the women's category and racing as "Eva Lin."

Looks like he started winning after switching categories.

I wonder why that is. πŸ€”πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ Image

πŸ’«Did you know that today, Nov 21, is the Day Of Remembering That Men Are Still Racing In The @usacycling Women's Category?πŸ’«

Such a special day!

Today we recall the racers who will never be female but who are allowed to race in USAC's women's fields anyway for some reason.πŸ§΅πŸ‘‡ Image
Image
Here's Kylie (Kyle) Small racing (and winning) a women's singlespeed cyclocross national championship.

This is not how you grow the women's field, @usacycling. "Kylie" will never be a woman. Image
Here's Lesley (Wesley) Mumford on the top podium step of a @usacycling women's cat 3 cyclocross race.

Even if Mumford eventually makes it to cat 2 and has to report his testosterone levels, he still will never be a woman. Image

A large number of my tweets have been removed in the EU for defamation/insult. πŸ‡ͺπŸ‡Ί

This has made me deeply consider my ways. I have now realized that trans women are women!

🧡I would like to set things right with a thread of brave trans women racing bikes as their true selves!
Image
Image
Jenna Lingwood has had tons of wins in road and cyclocross over the past several years. She even has a national championship title. She's so strong!
Image
Image
Abigail Francis races for Colorado State University. She's showing the world that trans women can be on collegiate women's cycling teams. Amazing!

I keep seeing:

"It's not happening."
"It's fake culture war stuff."
"The far right made it up."
"There are about 19 total of them competing across all sports."

🧡Here's a thread of males CURRENTLY competing in ONE sport: women's cycling. πŸ‘‡
Image
Image
Kylie (Kyle) Small is the current women's singlespeed cyclocross US national champion. He recently took women's podiums for Fort Lewis College at the 2024 collegiate cycling nationals and was named a collegiate All-American.
Image
Image
Catherine (Nicholas) Barnwell has seen a lot of women's podiums recently in road and cyclocross.

As the year comes to a close, here's a thread of males who have won in women's cycling in 2023. πŸ†

(Because "This never happens," and "I bet you can't even give me an example," and "How many people can this possibly affect?")
Image
Image
Here's Tiffany (Trent) Thomas on the top step at the Randall's Island Crit.

Tiffany is 47 and has a spot on the women's pro crit team LA Sweat. Image
Austin Killips is a name that no one would know if he had chosen to compete in his correct sex category, but he has made a name for himself racing against women.

Killips won the GC at Tour of the Gila riding for the Amy D. Foundation women's development team. Image

It's Father's Day!

Let's take a moment to honor the dads of women's bike racing!

Some have grown children, some share custody, and some have young ones at home.

Somehow, all of them find the time to stand on women's cycling podiums at all different levels.

Incredible! ImageImage
Tara (Todd) Seplavy has taught his kids the important lesson that you can still hang in the women's P-1-2-3 as a rather out-of-shape 48-year-old cat 3 as long as you put in the effort (and are male).

Inspiring! ImageImage
Jillian (Jonathan) Bearden and Jenna (Jimmy) Lingwood both have masters national championship titles in the US.

The wives of Bearden and Lingwood don't have any national titles. Their kids are learning that dads can do anything they set their minds to*!
