'Donald Trump’s newly appointed defence secretary told allies on his first international trip that the US was no longer “primarily focused” on European security'
Then maybe Europe, should completely re-evaluate its relationship with the US.
Remember, the primary reason Russia, and before that the Soviet Union, was seen as a threat to Europe, was because of the US domination of Europe. I very much doubt Russia wanted to try and colonise Europe, given its difficulties holding onto Eastern European countries.
2/
Russia's main interest in continuing to occupy Eastern Europe, after WW2, was as a buffer, against US aggression against it. Without Europe being a puppet of the US, I can't see how Russia or Putin would have seen Europe as a threat to it.
3/
What would Russia's interest in invading Europe be, if the UK was no longer the US's biggest aircraft carrier, and Europe the US landing craft?
Remember, it is the Trump regime doing this, not Europe suggesting it.
4/
Trump's vision of the US being Europe's protector, is a bit like how gangsters, view businesses, that it "protects". Being protected by the mafia or some other gangsters, isn't real protection, as the prime danger to those businesses, is from those very same gangsters.
5/
The main reason Russia invaded Ukraine, was it feared Ukraine becoming part of the US dominated Nato. I doubt Russia and Putin, would see Europe as a threat, if it was no longer so closely allied to the US, which is what the US imposed on Europe.
6/
I know people will say, but Putin would just roll into Europe. But why? As Putin learned in Ukraine, just rolling into another country, with his outdated army, was not the piece of cake he envisaged. What would be the point of trying to occupy Europe, except as a US buffer?
7/
It is the Trump regime saying that Europe can no longer rely on the US. Maybe given Trump's hostility to Europe, it's time to re-evaluate Europe's relationship with the US, as that it what has made it a target, for possible Russian aggression i.e. Russia's fear of the US.
8/
What I've said here, is just for thought. To think outside the box, and to deal with a threat to the rest of the world, from the hostile Trump regime, threatening to impose all sorts of pain on it, if it doesn't kiss the ring of the psychopathic gangster in the White House.

This is the very reason I am suggesting that European leaders, need to consider thinking outside the box, and completely re-evaluating their relationship with the US.
The ONLY reason Putin considers Europe a threat, and would consider invading it, is to stop the US, using Europe, and its military bases there, to invade Russia.
People will say, but without the US there, Putin would mount an invasion of Europe. I say, why would he do that?

What I meant by this, is that I am seeing so much analysis, talking about the situation Trump is going to create, that just assumes that what Trump and Musk are planning, will actually happen, in the way they intend. No it won't.
1/🧵
Certainly, Trump has the power to try implementing this, and this attempted implementation will happen. But this is soon going to be followed by lots of unintended consequences. For example, Trump can certainly impose a wide range of tariffs.
2/
But this is going to be followed by massive impacts on the worldwide financial markets, retaliatory measures from other governments, a general trade war, and rapidly rising prices on consumer goods for US consumers.
3/
I'm having great difficulty in knowing how to respond to the mistaken mainstream analysis of the Trump regime, which is all profoundly mistaken.
The only thing you need to know, is that the Trump regime is unhinged and detached from reality, and it will destroy itself.
1/🧵
The vision of what Trump, Musk et al, want to create/achieve, simply won't happen. They will destroy themselves, and their own reputations.
However, it will create massive destruction, chaos and suffering. It just won't create the right wing vision, they think it will.
2/
If you want to have a look at how right wing vision turns out, in practise, look at Brexit in the UK. All the right wing loons, went on about Brexit opportunities, how it was going to end asylum seekers coming to the UK, and how Britain was going to become great again.

@owenokaneten You present the false idea that anxiety is produced by overthinking, rumination. You show no recognition that some people have no inner monologue, with which you need to ruminate i.e. talk yourself, in your head. You seem to be unaware of anauralia.
@owenokaneten I found out this out, when I was being assessed and treated by a clinical psychologist, who mistakenly assumed I was ruminating about the trauma I had experienced, even though I had already told them, I couldn't ruminate.
@owenokaneten Aphantasia, the inability to mentally visualize things, is connected to this. This research paper, accepted but not yet publish, documents how those with aphantasia, are regularly misdiagnosed, and damaged by inappropriate cognitive therapy.
This is a very useful article for understanding the Trump administration, as Trump and so many around him, display clear psychopathic traits and styles of thinking.
I'm not using this to insult Trump, just to highlight how people with these traits behave.
1/🧵
By psychopathic traits, I mean ruthlessness, a shallow disregard for the truth, projecting a false persona, false shallow charm, being very manipulative and having little regard for others. They are totally immersed in getting what they want.
2/
As the article points out, these traits have long being considered desirable in the corporate environment. However, as the research referred to in the article, actually, such traits are not that helpful in the business world.
3/
By deranged, I mean, Trump, and by extension, those around him, are totally detached from reality. Their attempt at radical policy and change, will not pan out like they expect.
This is gross incompetence on an unbelievable scale.

Take this shutting down of USAid.
In the MAGA mindset, this is a good thing. To stop paying large amounts of money, to ungrateful non-Americans.
Until you realize the consequences, and that it is a gift horse to China.
