'Donald Trump escalated his attacks on Volodymyr Zelenskyy, calling the Ukrainian president “a dictator” and warning that he “better move fast” or he “won’t have a country left”.'

As I've said before, Donald Trump is an actual psychopath.

1/🧵theguardian.com/world/2025/feb…
One of the key psychopathic traits Trump has, which needs to be recognized, is his total disregard for the truth, and pathological lying.

This is so dangerous. Trump is not a rational or sane human being. He only appears to be.

2/threadreaderapp.com/thread/1887957…
It's entirely mistaken to see this in terms of politics, or any other rational agenda.

Trump is a dangerous psychopath, with no grasp of reality. He is totally detached from reality, and is a major threat to the world.
3/
It's beyond absurd for Trump to go around calling other people dictators, given his love for Putin and Kim Jong Un. He loves and worships actual dictators.

This is nothing about democracy, which Trump has no regard for at all.
4/
It's like when Trump, who told over 30,000 proven falsehoods, in his first term of office, goes around accusing other people of lying. When he is himself, the biggest liar on the face of the Earth.
5/
'"It has long been a truism that politicians lie," wrote Carole McGranahan for the American Ethnologist in 2017, but "Donald Trump is different". He is the most "accomplished and effective liar" to have ever participated in American politics.'

6/en.wikipedia.org/wiki/False_or_…
As I keep desperately trying to explain, Trump is not lying as part of a clever political strategy. He tells so many lies, because he is an actual psychopath, and has no grasp of reality.

He has fooled people, into believing he's rational and knows what he is doing.
7/
The most influential work on psychopathy, is the Mask of Sanity, by Psychiatrist, Hervey Cleckley, 1941.

Because psychopaths, have a false front, a mask, so people mistakenly think they are sane, not the insane people they really are.
8/
"Cleckley describes the psychopathic person as outwardly a perfect mimic of a normally functioning person, able to mask or disguise the fundamental lack of internal personality structure, ..."

9/en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Mask_…
It is a fundamental mistake to see Trump as just another politician, or even just as a fascist, or wannabe dictator. Trump has no rational agenda, other than fulfilling his insane impulses.
10/
Even as psychopaths go, Trump is at the extreme end of the spectrum. You would only normally expect to encounter a person as deranged as Trump, in a high security hospital. Trump will not merely drag the US down with him, but the whole world.
11/
The big danger, is Trump has convinced those around him, and those who voted for him, that he has some sort of grand plan, and knows exactly what he's doing.

He doesn't, Trump has no idea what he is doing. He is genuinely deranged and insane, only pretending to be rational.
12/
Look at how many recognized psychopathic traits Trump objectively has - all of them. You don't need to be a psychiatrist or psychologist to see them.

Very few actual psychopaths, have anywhere near this many psychopathic traits.

13/threadreaderapp.com/thread/1883586…
I know some people will be upset by me using mental health terms.

However, as I make clear in my first thread linked to above, ultimate, Trump might be diagnosed by a professional, as having another main condition. But first and foremost, he is a psychopath.
14/
Trump's pathology is so obvious, and he is such an extreme danger to the world, that it needs to be called out.

Stop trying to interpret Trump's behaviour in rational or political terms, he is actually insane.

"Keir Starmer will not risk riling Donald Trump by challenging him over his attack on Ukraine’s president, ..."

This is what I feared. Starmer, like the other European leaders, are totally out of their depth, and don't know what they're dealing with.

1/🧵theguardian.com/politics/2025/…
Other world leaders are simply not up to the task of dealing with the out of control monster, that is Donald Trump. They are treating him as if he is rational and sane, which he most definitely is not.
2/
I haven't been trying to draw attention to Trump's very clear psychopathic traits, simply because I don't like him or his politics. It is because to effectively deal with Trump, and the global situation he is creating, you've got to understand him.

"Politicians who deliberately lie could be forced from office in Wales"

I commend these proposals in Wales, and I have been arguing for these types of rules and laws for a very long time.

1/🧵theguardian.com/politics/2025/…
It is beyond absurd, that politicians, not just in Wales and the UK, but globally, can tell bare-faced lies with impunity, and there are no consequences for them lying in this shameless way.
2/
There are practically no other areas of professional and business life, where people in paid positions, or public life, are allowed to shamelessly lie with impunity. In most other areas of public life, lying in this way, is both illegal, and a breach of professional ethics.

The thing is, we do have plain-speaking experts.

Perhaps the best is Professor Kevin Anderson @KevinClimate.

I know of no one better at explaining the realities of climate change, to either the public or to politicians.

In fact, he is far too good at it.
1/🧵
So good is @KevinClimate at explaining the unvarnished reality of climate change, in plain language, that he's hardly ever allowed to speak to the public, given a TV or radio slot, or allowed to address and brief politicians.

2/
There are very few, if any better qualified to give that briefing, being that @KevinClimate is a top climate scientist, and his speciality, is what government climate policy, will actually give us in reality. The most important facet.

The Reform MP @TiceRichard is trying to seriously mislead the public about anthropogenic climate, with outright sophistry, and lies.

What Tice is relying on, is that only a few percent of the public are scientifically literate, much less on actual climate science.
1/🧵
In other words, few people would spot, that @TiceRichard is stating absolute falsehoods as fact. I will very quickly deal with the liar Tice, and prove he is a liar, setting out to mislead the public.

2/researchbriefings.files.parliament.uk/documents/POST…
In this interview, the liar Tice, falsely claims he's read the @IPCC_CH AR6 and it says "even if you get to net zero tomorrow, it'll make no difference to sea level rise, between 200 years and a thousand years". I will now quote the AR6, full report on the tweet below.

@KarolusWangus I can't explain why you've got an "aching ass", but I can explain in huge detail why no progress has been made on addressing the climate and ecological crisis on almost every level. Please note false accounting doesn't count, and much of this can be laid at the door of the US.
1/
@KarolusWangus The Keeling Curve is the knife that cuts right through the lie, that progress has been made on reducing emissions, and claims that progress has been made, is a big fat lie. The Keeling Curve shows a steady increase in atmospheric CO2.

2/en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keeling_C…
@KarolusWangus "This graph shows ... not only has humanity not succeeded in reducing emissions following warnings on climate change in the late 1980s and 90s, but the emissions have also grown substantially, and we have now emitted as much since 1990 as in all of history before that time."

I'm very disappointed in the lack of interest in what is the most fundamental dynamic in what you might call climate policy. However, I've always found this.

It should be noted, that this is not my idea, it's reality. If we don't get this, we're fucked.
1/🧵
What I'm talking about here, is the basic mechanism of why no progress has been made on the ecological and climate crisis in the last 53 years, despite all the high level pledges.

It's what I might call, selective denial.
2/
This is where mainly politicians, say we must take this issue seriously, to take action, but then carry on with growth related policy, and totally ignore the changes necessary to avoid global catastrophe, and the collapse of our civilization, because of climate change etc.
