100 Days ago I was elected as a Vice Chair of the DNC with 298 votes well above the 201.5 threshold to win.
David Hogg received only 214.5
Today the DNC credentials committee heard a (complex challenge) to this election and voted for a new one to be held.
I have thoughts:
First, yes, I disagree with the ruling, but ultimately the committee voted and I respect their votes — even when I really disagree.
Second, the press has been breathless in covering the main character they’ve chosen — David Hogg.
They are rushing to do it again. I call BS.
The easy story is to make this a continuation of “David fights the party” which is nonsense to be honest — reporters can call me to explain more.
So, that means the avg person, sadly has heard about me, my dominating win in this race or what I’ve done since.
So let me. My name is Rep. Malcolm Kenyatta.
I am one of two people serving under the age of 35 in DNC leadership.
I’ve consistently done the hard and unglamorous work to change this party, which I was elected to do with no fan fare and no pay.
In 100 days:
-I’ve traveled 19,805 miles.
-I’ve done nearly 3 dozen events.
-I’ve been to 8 states and traveled to visit our Dems Abroad.
-I’ve raised money for this party through call time and events.
So yes, I’m pissed that this challenge was successful, especially when I won in such a resounding way.
But here we are…
That being said — this challenge was brought well before David’s announcement w/ LWD.
And any reporter covering this as party retribution against David is full of sh*t.
It is unfortunate as I believe we both won fairly & there is no charge that we acted improperly.
The credentials committee believed, as they stated, that they are remedying a procedural flaw.
But doing so the way they did, is a slap in my face. I’m frustrated, but I’ll be ok.
However any story about this, that neatly places this into a narrative about David Hogg is wrong.
I worked my ass off to get this role and have done the job every day since I’ve held it.
This story is complex and I’m frustrated— but it’s not about @davidhogg111 . Even though he clearly wants it to be.

Electing a Speaker hasn’t been cut and dry in Harrisburg or Washington 🫠.
I know a lot of people have questions about the #PAHouse Speaker election. So I wanted to do a quick 🧵
For those just tuning in — this November Pennsylvanians delivered historic victories to Democrats including a majority of seats (by 1 vote) in the PA House for the first time in nearly a decade.
But a tragic death and two resignations left us short 3 seats on swearing in day.
On swearing in day (or the first session day of the new term) we do a number of things including electing a Speaker and approving House rules.
House Dems chose our leader @RepMcClinton to be our Speaker designate. But as you dear reader know, that is not yet the case.
So many of my @PaHouseDems colleagues have powerfully spoken about the impact of this bill so far.
@RepBradford just asked the GOP majority leader to stand for interrogation and answer questions about this disgusting bill.
Not one Republican would do so. That is telling.
@RepMadden powerfully making the point that an overwhelming majority of Pennsylvanians support the freedom to choose and urging folks to fight to defend it.
PA House Republicans are RIGHT NOW trying to pass a constitutional amendment to strip the freedom to abortion, make it harder to vote, and inject the GOP Auditor General into elections.
The PA Senate passed this last night just before midnight.
The Governor can not veto this.
For this to appear on the ballot for final approval they must pass this language again in January per our constitution.
So…if the Republicans hold the General Assembly and take the Governor’s mansion, abortion could be banned in Pennsylvania by this time next year.
This is a blaring red alarm to redouble your efforts to elect @JoshShapiroPA, @PAHDCC and Dems up and down the ballot @AllIn_PA!
Everything Pennsylvania can and should be is on the line.
In this moment when so much hard won progress is at risk #Pride is more important that ever.
Craven politicians are rushing to pass ‘don’t say gay’ bills, criminalize gender affirming care, and erase the LGBTQI community.
We won’t be erased.
When I ran for US Senate — becoming the first openly gay man of color to run in American history to do so — I stood on the shoulders of giants whose bravery and sacrifice made it possible.
Heroes who’d would never get to enter the rooms of the doors they kicked down.
So many of those were and are trans women of color who still face huge barriers to be treated with the human dignity and respect that we all deserve.
The first #Pride was an uprising and we still have to fight.
This fall, I will be introducing legislation that will require that TANF benefits undergo an annual cost of living increase to keep pace with inflation. TANF is a lifeline for struggling families and it’s urgent that we modernize the system. 🧵 :
The Temporary Assistance for Needy Families program, known as TANF, is a crucial program for families who are in crisis. I know what that feels like. TANF benefits make sure folks have food and supplies when we are struggling.
Unfortunately, TANF benefits have not increased with inflation, eroding the value of such benefits in helping families escape deep poverty.
