Empty words from the Foreign Secretary - the statement lacks any resolve, leadership or action to help end the genocide in Gaza. 1/4🧵
The UK government must show real backbone by immediately halting all arms exports to Israel - whether direct or indirect - including components for F-35 fighter jets. 2/4🧵
It must also use every political, legal, and diplomatic tool at its disposal to help end Israel’s genocide, dismantle its apartheid regime, and bring the illegal occupation to an end. 3/4🧵
Without decisive action, the relentless assault on Palestinians will escalate further, with even more devastating consequences. 4/4🧵

1/5 A groundbreaking @amnesty report published today concludes Israeli authorities are committing genocide against Palestinians in Gaza. amn.st/6014the36
@amnesty The report documents how Israel perpetrated three acts prohibited under the Genocide Convention:
1️⃣ killing Palestinians in Gaza,
2️⃣ causing them serious bodily or mental harm,
3️⃣ deliberately inflicting conditions of life calculated to bring about their physical destruction
@amnesty 3/5 It reveals how month after month, Israel has treated Palestinians in Gaza as a subhuman group unworthy of human rights and dignity, demonstrating its intent to physically destroy them.

🚨 SHOCKING FACT: The UK holds the highest rate of homelessness among high-income countries.

There’s been a staggering 12.3% increase in homelessness this year alone, worsening an already critical situation. Image
We asked people across the UK how they feel about this growing emergency. Here’s what they had to say 👇🏽
1️⃣ Nearly half of young adults (47%) aged 16-34 are worried that they or someone they know could become homeless within the next year. This fear is real and growing.

🔴 The government's 'anti-Boycott' bill is up for its second reading today. Here's why it’s a threat to human rights ⚠️
1️⃣ If passed, it would undermine the freedom of expression of public officials, who could be acting illegally merely by calling out human rights violations relating to procurement decision-making.

This means it could suppress campaigns; from Uyghur solidarity to climate justice
2️⃣ It could lead to unethical businesses thriving if public bodies can't hold them accountable by denying them contracts.

🆘The UK Government is trying to introduce MORE anti-protest regulations

Almost NO ONE knows about it ⚠️

Measures that were voted out from the #PublicOrderBill have been reintroduced as “regulations”

Retweet to spread the word & #ProtectTheProtest✊🏽

🧵

These “regulations” were billed as a “crackdown” on slow-walking, but they go much further by:

🚨Making the threshold at which police can ban a peaceful protest extremely low

🚫Allowing police to ban a peaceful protest before it even happens

2/5
... the new definition of "serious disruption", which allows police to ban a peaceful protest, is shockingly broad.

The definition would be: “obstruction that causes more than minor hindrance to day to day activities” ⚠️🆘⚠️
