I keep going back to this insane thread, but Anna made the claim that Facebook/Meta paid out a "massive fine" for obscuring job listings from Americans.
The fine was $14 million dollars, and Meta has a market cap of $1.3T.
Every foreign applicant who meets "minimum requirements" must be contacted.
MINIMUM. REQUIREMENTS.
Imagine if job seekers in the US were guaranteed by law that applications be reviewed by a human being as opposed to ATS/AI.
Why are these rules for non-Americans only??
The claim Anna makes is that HR departments of companies cannot handle this.
Imagine an HR department at your workplace that actually had to focus on hiring and onboarding only, as opposed to all the insanity we've seen spewing from that "job title."
Lol lmao.
There is something interesting being published tomorrow:
USCIS (US Immigration) will now be able to enforce actions against violators of immigration law. This is, theoretically, a big step in eliminating cross-bureau hangups.
It's not officially published until later today, but here's the document:
And something I found interesting, though I don't know how intentional this is:
This removes the authority from the Attorney General (Bondi) and gives to Noem (DHS).
This is bottom of page 13.
Might be a necessity to make processes work, but still it stands out to me.
In closing, the PERM "fine" from 2021 asserts at the bottom that violators can be reported to USCIS.
If this change tomorrow does what it has the potential to do, enforcement could actually be carried out by the bureau you're required to submit complaints to.
I don't want to be too optimistic about anything, ever. But I do think I see the vision here, and I hope it is even a fraction successful.
It also could potentially give We The People a direct line of communication with people who can actually DO SOMETHING.
I gave you dangerous misinformation when I said Meta's market cap is $1.3T. It's actually $1.8T.
;)
@threadreaderapp According to the release from USCIS, in one month we can report it and the people receiving the reports have enforcement authority. First time ever, seemingly before you’d get passed around between bureaus and red tape.
@threadreaderapp I think side-stepping Bondi and giving this job to Noem is a smart move. I plan to keep their reporting line on my speed dial.
@threadreaderapp When this rolls out, I’ll make a one-stop page on my site with all the links and info you need so you can do the same, if you like. ;)

I posted that Huntsman spider and now the biggest spider I’ve ever seen in my life is on my wall. Little Cat is on high alert, my heart is pounding, and I’m going in.
Since "white labeling" and imports and luxury good markups are being discussed heavily right now, let me introduce you to one of my favorite niche research resources: ImportYeti.
