More from @Square

We’re changing our company name so we can give the full @Square brand to our Seller business. So now we need a name to tie @Square, @CashApp, @TIDAL, and @TBD54566975 together into one. That name is “Block.” Why?
Not to get all meta on you… but we’re going to! Block references the neighborhood blocks where we find our sellers, a blockchain, block parties full of music, obstacles to overcome, a section of code, building blocks, and of course, tungsten cubes.
We’ve been working to make this change for over a year, and it only represents a change of our official corporate name; not our purpose, our vision, our structure, or how we operate. Shareholders: we aren’t changing our ticker symbol, we’re still $SQ.

The image in the tweet above is the logo of the Black Squares Association (BSA), one of our employee resource groups. We shared it here to raise awareness of its members, their work, and our collective cause of fighting against systemic racism and injustice.
There is much to do to right society’s long history of wrongs against Black communities. We can put out statements all day, but we know that words alone can feel quaint. Real, meaningful work is necessary to create change. Together with the BSA, we will continue to do that work.

“I didn't see black business owners in my neighborhood growing up, so it's really important for me to do what I'm doing. The more we can see ourselves out in the world, the more it inspires other people to know that something like this is possible.”

This is Maurice Harris. 1/7
Maurice owns Bloom & Plume Coffee, a cafe he opened next to his flower studio in LA’s Historic Filipinotown.

“My grandmother was a florist, so I was able to see her working when I was a child. I loved watching her create. I ended up doing flowers, and people responded.” 2/7
Maurice and his brother Moses opened the cafe in Feb. 2019. There are flower arrangements for sale, plus fresh flowers throughout the space.

“It’s a place built with a lot of love and a lot of intention. When you feel welcome in a space, it gives you a sense of belonging." 3/7
