T1/ #8 @TinaDupuy Lied about @alfranken & her reaction to meeting him in theatlantic.com/politics/archi… She focused on him at party, wrote 2 blog posts, gloated about photo, wrote positively. Lies are not helpful to #MeToo Women with long Internet history should avoid defamatory Lies.
T1a/ Here's what she wrote & my comments, followed by detailed proof in thread.
T2/ She posted twice in 22 minutes at party.
The 1st listed celebrities she saw, featured Franken & a picture (frankenmm.jpg), FishbowlLA was a minor Los Angeles media blog, which may account for Barney Frank's disinterest. I am not sure who "we" is. web.archive.org/web/2010021305…
T3/ Her 2nd party post focused even more on Franken & proved her defamatory allegation false. web.archive.org/web/2009012209…
She was not humiliated,but excited.
Via idioms.thefreedictionary.com/suck+it "suck it" = "An expression of condescension, especially following a triumph over someone else".
T4/ She asked for photo, moved close, threw arm across his shoulder. I think few except Dupuy & @TheAtlantic would think hand on waist a grope, but like her feigned distress, in my opinion, she Lied about this too. I think his arm was hanging at her side/front, not around her.
T5/ Franken's arms are not long (as per #5 Kemplin case); his photos show hand on waist occasionally with slim actresses, etc, but quite rarely with general public & I've yet to see one with loose clothing. See AlFrankenWomen* photo galleries flickr.com/photos/1377134…
T7/ @TheAtlantic photo is small, dim, oddly low-res (276x204 = 56,444 px) cdn.theatlantic.com/assets/media/i… Their shoulders seem to merge, unless one downloads & examines via Adobe Photoshop,Corel PaintShop Pro, etc. With eyedropper tools, one can distinguish her maroon & his grey suit.
T8/ My maroon lines sketch location of her garment, which should be visible (better light) if in front of his arm, but it isn't. There are less red pixels below the line of his arm than above. Given his shoulder in front, it is hard to imagine how his arm could reach waist.
T9/ Had his arm been around waist, that was no grope, even if I'm wrong on image, but all evidence is consistent with his arm hanging down. As in cases #1,#2,#5, the photos poorly support allegations or even contradict them *when examined carefully, in context.*
T10/ This raises more questions. Why is the photo such low-resolution?
Its 56,444 pixels are ~ 1/3 - 1/5 resolution of the other pictures from her inauguration trip.
Was it downsampled? Cropped? Was it cropped at bottom, which might have made Franken's arm clearer?
T11/
Had Dupuy's small photo been used instead of the (photoshopped(?), unflattering) leadoff, the arm position might have been more obvious.
T12/ Unlike some other complainants politically opposed to Franken, Dupuy was a fan. Why did she Lie ? When I first looked, the grope claim was so odd that I could only guess touch hypersensitivity derived from well-known difficult childhood tinadupuy.com/bio/
T13/ In each case, I gave complainant every benefit of the doubt & avoided a Lie explanation where there was any reasonable alternative. I wrote:

In Dupuy's case, not digging deeper was a serious error on my part. I'll leave that as useful lesson.
T15/ Peruse January 2009 Archive to assess the focus/depth of reporting. web.archive.org/web/2009012417…
Franken had left LA decades ago for NYC, but Dupuy often posted of him, starting no later than 11/24/08 web.archive.org/web/2009020205…
He'd rather gone far beyond "stand up comic".
T18/
01/15/09 A credential-rejection letter seems an odd post, but perhaps good calibration. web.archive.org/web/2009012423…
Opinion: some of FBLA's content seemed rather self-absorbed.
T20/ 01/17/09 - the 2 Media Matters party posts in T2,T3, then
01/21/09 web.archive.org/web/2010010517…
I still don't know who "we" & "us" are.
T21/ 01/21/09
She wrote in her own blog about meeting Nate Silver. web.archive.org/web/2009020104…
Her words are worth studying to obtain insight into her behavior; apparently "suck it" is common phrase.
T23/ 01/21/09
While personally uninvolved with the genre, these seem like gossip columns that mostly list celebrities seen, occasionally talked to. One might understand Barney Frank’s dismissal. web.archive.org/web/2009021902…
T24/ 01/21/09 web.archive.org/web/2010090212…
Although she later said gaining 20 pounds made her uncomfortable in clothes, photos seemed otherwise, with off-the-shoulder gowns.
T25/ 01/21/09 web.archive.org/web/2010090214…
This actually had content beyond listing celebrities & getting pictures with them.
T28/ 06/30/09
She wrote again about Franken, apparently still pleased, although again just considering him a comic. web.archive.org/web/2009070315…
T29/ She tweeted positively about Franken during 2009-2010, mentioned meeting him.

which has more.
T30/ Her FBLA posts focused on celebrities & pictures with them, as do some in facebook.com/tina.dupuy/pho…
That's an eclectic sample of friends, family & celebrities (like Jack Abramoff), latter claimed to be bugged for pictures only for foster mom. No touch sensitivity apparent.
T31/ Every woman's complaint deserves to be heard taken seriously, but also seriously investigated, as I have tried to do in

No No case had eyewitnesses or independent contacts not via complainants. Read about Rolling Stone & U VA rape case for problems.
T32/ Dupuy wrote 2,170 words, of which 282 just repeated allegations #1-#5,#7, with no obvious critical thought, shown below, with brief annotations, whose details are given in threads just linked, plus pagesix.com/2017/12/07/tom…
33/ Watch Dupuy on CNN, 4min.
“What I didn’t put in the article was I had just quit smoking, gained 20 pounds. I was uncomfortable just being in clothing, let alone having some lawmaker manhandle me." See T6,T10. She partied, often in fancy dress.
T34/ Dupuy Lied about Franken in her article and on CNN, did what she could to destroy his political career, but got herself widespread attention.
I can see why she didn't want ethics review (CNN interview).
Does she have an incredible defamation lawyer?
T35/ Far more important is using this case to probe the current state of journalism or perhaps “journalism". I remain especially astonished @TheAtlantic did this. I hope, like Rolling Stone, they do a serious investigation, report & take action, so I could respect them again.END
T36/ Oops, @cabinloon reminds me of some Tweets by @TinaDupuy; I'm blocked, but here they are :

Unsurprisingly, she did *not* study the allegations deeply, just counted.
T37/ Also, I forgot @JoannaSays helped me in some side-conversations on the photo & Photoshop that were NOT part of the old thread.:

@DustyBowl@MethaneThiol@niko_tinius Interesting! You probably know winelandsofbritain.co.uk/lecture.htm but in some sense an even less-noisy (simpler geography/history) climate:wine correlation is the Northward expansion of vineyards in Lake Okanagan area in British Columbia over recent decades.
@DustyBowl@MethaneThiol@niko_tinius Amusingly (given WSJ OpEd hostility to climate science) here was a decent article in the Okanagan valley wine expansion (Tappen is actually further North of the Lake).
@DustyBowl@MethaneThiol@niko_tinius Related to Winelands of Britain earlier), a few years ago, my wife & I did field research in North Yorkshire at Ryedale Vineyards, then-Northernmost commercial English vineyard (already further N than Selley had expected for 2050), nice visit with owner: ryedalevineyards.co.uk
@mattblaze AFAIK the only group to discover Ken’s hack was us in PWB/UNIX. One of the other guys noticed C prepreprocessor had gotten bigger, looked at binary namelist, found symbol not in source code. I got onto Ken’s system, found the code, very clever.
@mattblaze A bit latet, I was in Lab 127’s terminal room, talking to dmr or bwk, and overheard amusing conversation between ken and Robert Morris Sr, who sometimes consulted for NSA.
(RM Jr of worm fame was just a kid then.)
@mattblaze They were chortling away over cleverness of exploit. Then one (must have been ken) said “think we could put this over on NSA?” (which already had UNIX systems... we did favors now and then).
More chortling, then (must have been Bob): uhh, NSA really doesn’t have sense of humor.
CB0.1 Two fine books arrived Tuesday, the first recommended to me a few days earlier by @ProfPCDoherty, the other I’d pre-ordered months ago. I was amused to find on the first page of their Preface, @CT_Bergstrom and @jevinwest a quote Frankfurt's book, a classic I'd missed.
CB0.2 These will join the stack I sometimes use as examples of influential books on critical thinking.
As @CT_Bergstrom has noted, there are issues with Huff’s book for current use, but I included it for historical significance.
CB0.3 The following has substantial excerpts, Table of Contents is shown here: penguinrandomhouse.com/books/563882/c…
The authors teach to (lucky) UW college students, but it could be good start for a high school course that *everyone* now needs.
I'd call it "Defense against the dark arts."
@Cloudflare SSV2/UNIX Third Edition apparently didn’t have signal(II) bitsavers.org/pdf/att/unix/3… Unsurprisingly as few PDP-11/20s in Bell Labs would have had KS-11s.
@Cloudflare SSV3/Ken & Dennis got early PDP-11/45, which had real memory management, rewrote kernel in C, and signal was in 4th Edition, the one I started with in Fall 1973, ~same week as we got our 11/45 for PWB/UNIX. Sadly I’ve misplaced/lost that manual, but: dspinellis.github.io/unix-v4man/v4m…
