1. The #NRA is to gun-fueled killiings in the US as #AIPAC is to big-weapons killings (& settler colonialism & Apartheid) in Palestine. This brief Tw essay will explore the finances of both orgs.
2. ProPublica has a great public portal for reviewing IRS's Form 990 forms for all 501c orgs. Both @AIPAC and @NRA are 501c-4 orgs, so can lobby. Both hv smaller affiliated 501c-3 (educational) orgs, too. projects.propublica.org/nonprofits/org…
3. From the @NRA's 2015 990 we see that the Exec Dir Wayne Lapierre pulled in >$5 million that year for a claimed 70 hrs/week of work...
4. By comparison, @AIPAC's Exec Dir Howard Kohr pulled in "only" $670,000, as per this 2014 990:
5. @NRA's total revenues in 2015 were $336 million. Their payroll had 852 ppl on it-- most earning much less than Wayne Lapierre.
6. @AIPAC 's revs in 2014 were $88.6 million. Roughly 1/4 of @NRA's. But in terms of havoc/suffering/deaths resulting from the policy distortions imposed by the 2 orgs, probably @AIPAC gave "more bang for the buck"?
7. Next week, @WRMEA will hold its annual #IsraelLobbyConf. A good chance to understand how @AIPAC operates at all levels of US public life & explore the role of $$ in distorting US politics. We'll hv an info table there. Come by! israellobbyandamericanpolicy.org

This is a truly outstanding study from @CIPonline's @BenFreemanDC & colleagues of how BAD military spending is at creating actual, you know, jobs: lobelog.com/more-money-few… (Thread)
@CIPonline @BenFreemanDC@WorldBeyondWar@WinWithoutWar@AFSCpeace Trump, like many pols before him, likes to trumpet the fact that military spending (by the US people, or via Saudi purchases of US weapons systems) is a big job-creation machine. But...
With the powerful mass movement for democracy & accountability in #Algeria/#Algerie reaching a turning point in next 2 days, 7 diverse Algerian personalities launched this video appeal for unity & real dialog: (Thread) tsa-algerie.com/lappel-de-pers…
Of note (& sad), that the good news site TSA that carried this has been banned in #Algeria. But it is on FB & other platforms so it should get wide distribution? It's issued in the name of "Agreement for the sake of protecting the homeland"
The seven people who signed the Agreement are standing together and take turns reading short sections of it. This one just says: "Appeal to the Algerian people"
