The Kentucky Supreme Court today unanimously struck down a program to funnel public school dollars into unaccountable private schools.

The program would reduce public school funding, harm Kentucky students, and reduce transparency on how tax dollars are spent. Programs like this harm students by diverting public education funding and opening the door for discrimination. They also reduce transparency on how your tax dollars are spent.

One year ago we joined the Louisville community to form a coalition and demand immediate, substantive changes to save lives in Louisville jails.

One year on, the community has lost 12 lives in as many months. Louisville's government is overseeing a humanitarian crisis. When the government chooses to incarcerate a person, it also takes on the responsibility of caring for them. These 12 Kentuckians – moms, dads, siblings, colleagues, neighbors – were given detention, not a death sentence.
