Every poll under every method by every pollster is clear, unambiguous and unarguable: The Tories are Toast.

You really don't have to vote tactically or lend your vote. So, forget tactical voting and lets talk about strategic voting. 🧵 If you look at both the manifesto and stated policies of Keir Starmer's Labour party what you see is an agenda that includes: A commitment to billions of further austerity, further crackdowns on asylum seekers and further demonization of trans people.

The wider context of the 'war on woke' is becoming very concerning. We now have 3 candidates for Tory leader, and thefore Prime Minister, running on a fairly open anti-LGBT platform. We must beware the ideological power of childhood. The Helen Lovejoys of this world are easily swayed by appeals to childhood innocence and the construction of moral panics. Children are constructed as blanks, devoid of sexuality and gender identity.

You cannot discuss LGBTQ+ rights in the Middle East without discussing colonialism. To have such a conversation in the absence of colonialism is foolish and pointless. The very concept of LGBT identities is dependent on a particular epistemology (way of making sense of the world) It's really quite tiring watching the rights of LGBTQ+ people be leveraged against the rights of Palestinians. Not only does such a discourse presume that a good human rights record is some kind of zero-sum game, but it also inherently harms queer Palestinians.

We are going to see a savage media campaign to de-legitimise all #KillTheBill protests after events in #Bristol. It's important to remember that violence does not happen in a vacuum. Regardless of your views on these incidents, a legitimate cause was being fought for. We need to be aware that how police engage with protestors often sparks, rather than addresses, violence. We also need to be aware that attempts to use the actions of a minority to delegitimize a whole movement are a mere tactic of the powerful.

S59 of the Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Bill 2021 proposes to make it an offence to 'cause serious harm to the public or a section of the public' with serious harm including 'serious distress, serious annoyance, serious inconvenience or serious loss of amenity.' Of course, protests are inherently designed to cause inconvenience. This bill will dangerously curtail the right to protest in the UK. It will hand yet more power to a police force wh have clearly shown they cannot be trusted to exercise the powers they have in a thoughtful way.
