NEW -- CfA to House Leadership: The House Ethics Committee has failed to supply documents about members’ legal expense funds to the Legislative Resource Center (LRC) – a serious blow to transparency. Here’s why it matters: campaignforaccountability.org/watchdog-calls… Members of Congress must receive written permission from the Committee on Ethics to accept & spend money on legal fees they incur while in office or during their campaign.

NEW: Last month, the AZ GOP passed rules exempting reps. from records laws and allowing email deletion after 90 days.

But that wasn't all. In an op-ed for @AzCapitolTimes, CfA's Michelle Kuppersmith explains another change impacting ethics in the state. azcapitoltimes.com/news/2023/02/1… Those obviously egregious rule changes pulled focus from the fact that—as of this year—members of the public are barred from filing ethics complaints against state lawmakers.

Only sitting members of the state House or Senate can file complaints. And that's a huge problem.

NEW: Last week, CfA sent a letter urging @HSGAC to investigate whether Kellyanne Conway violated federal law by turning the selection process for Supreme Court justices into a pay-to-play scheme for her own financial gain. documentcloud.org/documents/2358… Prior to joining the Trump admin, Conway owned a political consulting firm which contracted with major conservative orgs. In Sept. 2017, public reports showed that Conway had sold her company to a group called CRC Public Relations for between $1-$5 million.
