THE MANY MASSACHUSETTS MATCH-UPS: PART 5

Here’s a race that’s very peculiar: a crowded REPUBLICAN race.

The cape and islands (Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket Island) District Attorney, Michael O'Keefe is stepping down after 20 years: setting a showdown. 1/5 There’s only one candidate running on the Democratic side: defense attorney Robert Joseph Galibois. THE MANY MASSACHUSETTS MATCH-UPS: PART 4
Happy first day of early in-person voting folks. Let’s celebrate by looking at a sheriff’s race: Hampshire County. This is an incumbent vs double challenger race. 1/6 #mapoli Hampshire county is sandwiched between Hampden and Franklin counties. It’s home to the five colleges (Amherst, Hampshire, Mount Holyoke, Smith and UMASS Amherst.) as such, it’s VERY college educated as a county. It was Bernie Sanders’s second best county in 2020 as well. 2/6

One thing I’m curious as to wether journalists ask elected officials (regardless of party) is: “when you say we have to focus on mental health, what exactly do you mean?” To say: “oh we gotta focus on mental health” is a pretty big deal if you’re an elected official! In Massachusetts, polls conducted by @MassINC have shown that there ARE children who are feeling burnt out by traumatic events on a macro and micro level.

I know a lot of folks like to observe Cruz/Cornyn as the “polar opposite” of how to address or approach gun safety across the aisle, but I think a cooler challenge would be to do an article on Cassidy/Kennedy. CC: @WinWithJMC @JMilesColeman Now granted both have similar stances on guns: in fact Cassidy had his feral pig clip this week. But similar to Cruz/Cornyn, one seems to see worth in bipartisanship (even if not likely) while the other says: “no, bipartisan attempts aren’t going to help me politically.”

Explain Massachusetts then. It’s funny how folks on conservative media go after New York, California and Chicago/Illinois but are not interested in taking on the ol’ punching bag again.
