I called my good friend Huck Seed to ask him his favorite Doyle Brunson story.

They used to play high-stakes mixed games together all the time in Vegas.

Huck has some of the most incredible poker stories I've heard, including playing Heads Up with Doyle and Stu Unger. 👇 2/ Huck, Doyle and others are playing high-stakes mixed games at the Mirage when Bill Gates walks in.

He was the richest man in the world at the time, at the height of the Microsoft era.

Apparently, Gates used to play $2/$4 limit back in college.

He will always be the "Legend" of poker. Here is my favorite Doyle Brunson story.

It's a Wednesday evening circa 2007, and I'm playing some $10/$20 at Bellagio.

Out of the blue the floor walks up to me and says, "Hey Alec, Doyle and his entourage just walked in..." Image 2/ "They are short on players and I figured you'd want to play big with them. Are you game?"

I had just won the FTOPS Main Event on Full Tilt (then the biggest MTT in online history) for $288K, and ran up $1M in cash games under my name "traheho."

I'm ready to take my shot. Image

What is Money?

The entire rabbit hole, including #Bitcoin, starts with this simple, yet profound question.

Are you ready to embark on the journey of a lifetime? 🧵 2/ At its core, money is humanity’s best attempt to preserve and transfer time through space.

People all over the world exchange their time for money.

Money is our way of encapsulating that time in a medium which we can trade with others.

1/ This Decade in Macro

A thread on our predictions for the next decade. 2/ I spend much of my time attempting to figure out what’s going on in the world, and then make bets based upon my assumptions.

Like in poker, I’m right more than I’m wrong, but I’m still wrong a surprisingly high percentage of the time.

I've spent the past week deep in the trenches with meme coins, and I think I just found the next Shiba Inu.

A thread on The Ultimate Guide to Meme Coins. 2/ Meme coins are just what they sound like, cryptocurrencies based on a meme.

You’ve likely heard of Dogecoin, the original meme coin, which was founded back in 2013 as a joke by IBM software engineer Billy Markus and Adobe software engineer Jackson Palmer.

I just read The Origins of Money by Nick Szabo, a fascinating essay.

Here's a quick summary.

Tribes used collectibles as money long before precious metals. The true value of creating money was its ability to transfer wealth from one generation to another. 2/ Because marriage, dispute resolutions and inheritance predate trade, transferring wealth was more urgent than trade and was the primary reason why money was created.

Paleo tribes created collectibles as money to trade with other local tribes.

15 Things I Learned Playing Poker Professionally for 15 Years

(A Thread) 1. Choose your starting hands wisely.

The biggest mistake amateurs make is playing too many hands.

To play or not to play is arguably the most important decision of all. Everything that happens in a hand is a result of that first choice.

Start each hand with an advantage.
