2 years ago,on this day, NRC FINAL list was published

1.9ml people were excluded, they were supposed to receive rejection slips to challenge their exclusion. No one received any reasons for thr exclusions

The story of the NRC since then should shame all stakeholders - THREAD NRC was prepared under the strict monitoring of the SupremeCourt. Around 55,000 Assam govt employees executed the NRC exercise

From May 2016 ,BJP is in power in Assam, they continue to rule Assam after winning 2021 Assembly election, with “correct NRC” as one of its main agendas

Very practical explanation on NPR and nationwide NRC by @ArvindKejriwal

If a Non Muslim is out of NRC, to get protection under CAA they may have to swear that they are either from Pakistan, Afghanistan or Bangladesh.

Citizenship at the cost of dignity and your entire history. Most Bengali Hindus excluded from Assam NRC are Indian citizens. They will get protection under CAA by swearing that they are from Bangladesh and came to India before 31.12.2014.

Yes, Rules not framed yet. May be because even the Govt has no idea how to implement CAA.

THE worst decision of Supreme Court in 2019 was NOT taking NRC to its logical conclusion. Modus operandi of SC was to complete NRC in timebound manner

BUT after Final List,SC didn't set any time frame to issue National ID card to includes & rejection order to19L excludes NRC excludes are living in uncertainty. Almost every1 hav docs, they want to challenge rejection order to clear thr names. But even after 5months NO reasons hav been given to them explaining their exclusion. They are forced to live with stigma where their CITIZENSHIP IS UNCERTAIN

I hope this govt realize that nationwide NRC is NOT an option. You can't ask entire nation to queue up to prove citizenship. Unimaginable harassment apart, There is NOTHING more humiliating than to be asked to prove citizenship in your own country. You must have heard many stories of harassment and even suicide because of NRC. Let me tell you how people felt humiliated in the NRC exercise in Assam

After the final Draft of NRC was published, 40 lacs excluded people were asked to submit their biometric details

Falu Das (70) was detained in Goalpara detention centre since 2017. He died yesterday

Even Preamble of our Constitution promises "Dignity of Individuals"

FORGET about Right to live with dignity, Falu Das was not even allowed to die with dignity

OUTRAGEOUS is an understatement! This comes after a week of death of Dulal Chandra Paul, who also died in detention. His family accepted his body after a week.
