Something that would be great to see is an early discussion about what the picture in NSW looks like for kids’ health services if easing restrictions happens at *70% of eligible folks vaccinated*. Discuss it now so we’ve considered implications early. (Because I bet clever people have at least put some brain time on this.)

‘This guy had 2 jobs’ is just more of the political gamification of everything that gets us nowhere, isn’t it?

Is addressing climate change a job that should be done? Any issues relating to the treatment of women that count a bit? Any combat zone interpreters that could have been looked after?

‘We deserve better politicians.’

Also, ‘you have two jobs.’

Sorry long day at work. Has the rule of law survived that guy no longer being Attorney-General? Just going to note that the respect for the rule of law didn’t seem that prominent when relentlessly carrying on with robodebt despite all the warnings it was unlawful. smh.com.au/politics/feder…

Bit of a double #CharityToCheckOut this week because I am not quite sure where to direct folks when it comes to flood relief. First up, both the NSW and Qld govts have links with @GIVIT_AUS - they can facilitate a donation as usual, but also coordinate people listing what they need all over. So people can donate their time/expertise/bits of kit/line up specific donations. #CharityToCheckOut

Hiya. So a team of us including @NaseemAhmadpour have produced this thing on design of VR and the like for distraction during procedures for kids. jmir.org/2020/7/e19752/ I pinch myself that I get to work with Naseem and others on this. Anyway. I am now going to get back to a thread on this. I had the chance to do a bunch of interviews for this. About 65 kids of all ages. 35 parents/carers.

So after a bit of work with multiple crews this week, and lots of refining through education drills to refine what works, here are the current versions of key #COVID19 working documents. They might change as we keep learning of course. The intubation one. #COVID19

So just to put these numbers (4000-12000 dead, up to 80000 needing ICU in NSW) in context. theguardian.com/world/2020/mar… Here is a snapshot from the Australian and New Zealand Intensive Care Society CORE Report of 2018. Count the numbers. This is private and public ICU beds. #COVID19 Image

Hiya. This Friday night I am going to use this example of sharing a paper via social media to make a more general comment on how we frame studies and query whether people read what they share. So note the framing here that ‘this animal cadaver study leads to the ability to perform emergency child tracheotomy in < 1 min’.

Climate change is not an environmental thing. It is an *everything* thing. It is hard to state how big a thing it is for health. Between 2030-2050, the WHO estimates 250,000 additional deaths per year attributable to climate change. who.int/news-room/fact…
