I just had what I consider to be an extraordinary conversation with my Mom.

I had recently heard of a clinic in Waukegan, IL where people over 65 were able to get vaccine appointments. I told my parents about it and gave them the number to call.

Today I called to follow up. My Mom got on the phone and said no, she hadn’t called to try to get an appointment for herself or my Dad.

I was a bit upset and asked why not.

“You didn’t get the article I emailed your?” she asked.

Friends, my mom emails me all sorts of trash so no, I hadn’t.

This thread is just disgusting.

She has done “the research” the same way that QAnon people do “research.”

I can’t even begin to address all the inaccuracies here as per ACTUAL science so if you really don’t know what they are, feel free to ask.

She can go get fucked 🖕🏼 Putting the science aside for a moment, as she has so ably done, I’ll point out that mere following of the laws is not necessarily a moral and ethical choice in every situation.

Indoor dining/bars reopening in many states has ZERO to do with safety & everything to do with 💰

I want to lift up this tweet once more because Lindsay’s analysis is 100% on point and SO important.

People have been parroting “cruelty is the point” to me for the last 2-3 years and on the one hand, yes, but on the other, it’s even worse than that.

1/? What I mean is, in order to be cruel, you have to have at least some understanding of your target’s wants, needs, and desires. You have to understand at least a little bit how they think.

That’s what’s required if cruelty is indeed the point, and not just a byproduct.

B had a cold this past week which means he wasn’t allowed in school.

Fine, since he wasn’t up for it anyway.

But now he’s better and for him to return I need either a negative COVID19 test or a note from his pediatrician saying it’s just a cold.

1/? Or we can also return 10 days after the initial onset of symptoms which will be Monday.

This will mean he’s only missing 2 days where he would have normally been able to go pre-COVID.

But two days is A LOT.

The summer between high school and college, I worked at a girls camp as a counselor.

One day we were on a field trip somewhere and riding in a school bus. Those are, if you remember, kind of high up so you have a different perspective than if you are in a car. Suddenly there was a commotion on the left side of the bus and the girls all started rushing over and whispering among themselves.

Myself and some other counselors came to see what was going on.

So, that’s two debates so far without any mention of family separation or immigration issues in general, am I correct?

Why the fuck is this happening? Dear @TheDemocrats: Immigration is an ELECTION YEAR ISSUE.

It should be an election year issue each and every time so long as we have cruel and punitive policies which rip apart families and perpetuate abuse, murder, and torture.

Friends, I just talked to my Dad about his voting plan.

First of all, bless his heart, he refuses to vote by mail 😡 But let’s put that aside for a moment.

He told me he’s pretty sure he’s voting for Biden.

PRETTY SURE By the end of the conversation, he told me he’s 99.9% for Biden, but not before I had several heart attacks along the way.

Heart attack #1: He said he wanted to see the rest of the debates first.

Immigration advocates were repeatedly screaming about this and no one gave a fuck.

I know of one case for example where a man was same-day deported from Otay Mesa, which had the largest COVID19 outbreak at the time. No test. No quarantine period.

theintercept.com/2020/09/03/cor… Not to mention the fact that deportation flights continued unabated and no one was tested, planes weren’t cleaned, etc.

We are probably the largest exporter of COVID19 in the world thanks to our detention and deportation machine.

Myself and other immigration activists tried to warn y’all about this back in FEBRUARY when this news came out: nytimes.com/2020/02/14/us/…

I take no pleasure at all in being right as our descent into fascism continues 😭😭😭 CBP and ICE have been barely accountable to anyone even before Orange Hitler came into office. But he made it waaaay worse.

The NY Times Editorial Board begs for badly needed leadership from Orange Hitler.

But I fear and prepare for the worst and so should you. nytimes.com/2020/03/24/opi… Let’s just say, now is the time to become as self-reliant as you can.

Now is the time to form mutual aid networks, get to know your neighbors, etc.
