Can economists PLEASE get rid of the "quantity v quality" language when it comes to children?
Asking on behalf of some high-birth order, high-quality friends of mine.

I have several problems with the language.🧵
#economics #demography The language implies that having fewer children necessarily results in certain types of children.

But the underlying theory is that children's outcomes are the result of intensive parenting (which is easier with fewer children) not the number of children per se.
