Details on Kano-Maradi Railway

The Federal Government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Mota-Engil Group on the construction of $1.959 billion dollars Kano-Maradi Standard Gauge Railway lines.

A 🧵 According to a statement from Ministry of Transportation, the new (Kano–Maradi) railway corridor will run through Kano, Jigawa and Katsina and through Niger Republic territory as far as Maradi.

COVID–19: To reduce overcrowding in public spaces, markets, shopping centres, offices and schools States are advised by the PTF to implement the following: a. Encourage virtual meetings in government Offices. The leadership of such offices are to ensure that all offices are well-ventilated offices, and encourage staff to work from home where possible;

On the marching order of President Muhammadu Buhari, the Presidentical Task Force on COVID–19 sends a powerful delegation to meet Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano State, and set up a Special Committee to work closely with the Kano COVID–19 Team. Dr. Nasiru Sani Gwarzo, who led the delegation, said “President Muhammadu Buhari gave us a marching order to be in Kano and find out what the state needs for containing the COVID-19 pandemic.”

President Muhammadu Buhari, has approved for immediate implementation, additional cost saving measures aimed at instilling financial discipline and prudence, particularly, in the area of official travels. Henceforth, all MDAs are required to submit their Yearly Travel Plans for statutory meetings and engagements to the Office of the SGF and/or the Office of the HOCSF for express clearance within the first quarter of the fiscal year, before implementation.
