This week, the UN's #DisabilityRights committee issued its FIRST decision on inclusive education. It's in Spanish, so here's a precis🧵:

THE CASE: Rubén, a child in Spain🇪🇸 with Down syndrome, attended a mainstream school with the support of a special education assistant. 1/5 BUT at age 10, starting Year 4, his teacher began to discriminate against him & mistreat him😱. In Year 5, Rubén's new teacher said he didn't need the education assistant. Rubén's parents complained, and the assistant was allowed back, but the teacher wouldn't collaborate😒. 2/5
