I have to tell a story about a man named Joel. In the late 90s, my friend Phil introduced me to this musical genius. He spoke so highly of Joel's independently produced CD, that I thought there would be no way for it to meet expectations. I was wrong. It exceed them. Phil played it for me in the car as he and I and a few others guys headed to Charleston, SC to continue our jobs as extras in the film, The Patriot. We'd been playing the role of British Soldiers in the film for some 6 months by then. This would be the last week we were together.

harpercollins.com/9780062797117/… (1/18) To be clear, I will write anything (within reason) that you ask. From “Thanks for everything” to “I’ll never forget that one night together in Paris” to “You’re just a better person than me.” Hate-purchases are welcome. They’re kinda preferred if I’m being honest. Here’s my #GameOfThrones fan fiction thread of how it should have ended. At the end of season 7 Cersei should’ve refused to join forces and not played a game about it. This causes the war against King’s Landing to take place before battling the Night King.

This quote is from an interview where Chomsky was discussing propaganda and how he believes the elites broadly control messaging in a way that appeals to "privileged audiences" in service of corporate advertiser's goals. Leading up to the quote Bregman uses, Chomsky identified the press as having a misguided & self-serving view of themselves as bold crusaders speaking truth to power and he argues most of them are elevated precisely because their opinions jibe with those corporate elite goals.

Shoulda seen the writing on the wall all the way back in 2011 about conservative media. I’ll never forget RedState’s old owners, Eagle Publishing, sending down an edict that they were negotiating a book deal with Trump (who at the time was publicly talking about running for president) and apparently he was unhappy about our front page criticism of him.

People can rationalize it all they want but when a Trump rally is described as cult worship and Kim Yo Jong is described as “stealing the show”, there’s more than just “reporting” going on. It is entirely possible to report on how NK is successfully wooing South Koreans without helping them woo.
