Let’s talk about this ā€œdeport them allā€ fantasy.

It sounds tough. It plays well in Facebook and Twitter comment sections. But it collapses the second it meets reality.

1. You are not rounding up 11 million people.
That is not law and order. That is a fascist fever dream. You would need a police state, checkpoints, mass detention camps, and a trillion-dollar budget. You would be tearing mothers from their kids, raiding churches, dragging people out of factories at gunpoint. That is not restoring law. That is shredding it.

2. You would nuke entire industries overnight.
Agriculture would be finished. Construction would be crippled. Food service would be gutted. You think your five dollar strawberries are expensive now? Wait until they cost twenty dollars if you can even find them. The economy depends on this labor. You can hate that fact. You can deny that fact. But you cannot wish it away.

3. ā€œAmericans will do those jobs.ā€ Will they?
Then why have they not? Farm owners have begged for American workers. They do not show up. Why? Because most Americans will not break their backs for eleven dollars an hour with no benefits and no job security. ā€œJust pay moreā€ sounds great until you remember the same people chanting ā€œdeport them allā€ are the ones who scream about inflation and complain when eggs go up thirty cents.

4. You cannot run a country on tantrums.
Immigration laws need to be enforced with intelligence, not brute force. You want real results? Go after the employers who exploit people. Fix the asylum system. Reform the visa pipeline. Create a pathway for people who have lived, worked, and paid taxes here for ten, fifteen, even twenty years. That is how you restore integrity. You fix what is broken instead of smashing it out of spite.

5. It is not just idiotic. It is un-American.
The people you want to deport include veterans, essential workers, and business owners. Many have been here for decades. Their kids are citizens. Their lives are built here. Mass expulsion is not patriotic. It is lazy, cowardly, and authoritarian. And no, Trump’s big beautiful deportation force is not coming to save you. It never was.

You want a real solution? Stop barking slogans and start thinking like an adult. ā€œDeport them allā€ is not a plan. It is political cosplay for people who care more about rage than results. 1/x Who exactly is going to do the backbreaking low paid work undocumented workers do now?

Here’s how 7.5 million of them keep entire industries running while politicians pretend they are the problem:

1. Construction (~1,027,500 workers)
This industry employs the largest share of undocumented labor. Construction jobs are physically demanding, often seasonal or project-based, and frequently lack strong labor protections, making them more accessible to undocumented workers.

Roles include general laborers, roofers, drywall installers, bricklayers, and painters.

In some trades (like drywall and roofing), undocumented immigrants can make up 25–38% of the workforce.

2. Agriculture (~952,500 workers)
Agriculture has long depended on immigrant labor due to the backbreaking, low-wage nature of the work.

Undocumented workers are particularly concentrated in crop production, fruit picking, and dairy farming.

In some sub-sectors (e.g., fieldwork), undocumented workers make up more than 50% of the hired workforce.

3. Hospitality and Food Services (~532,500 workers)
The restaurant and hotel industries are known for high turnover, late hours, and relatively low wages, making them reliant on immigrant labor.

Jobs include cooks, dishwashers, waitstaff, housekeeping, and kitchen help.

In major cities like NYC and L.A., undocumented workers may represent up to half of all dishwashing jobs and a third of kitchen staff.

4. General Services (e.g., cleaning, maintenance) (~487,500 workers)

These roles often require long hours, are physically taxing, and are sometimes paid under the table.

Examples include janitors, housekeepers, landscapers, and building maintenance staff.

Many undocumented workers in this sector work for private households or through subcontractors in commercial buildings.

5. Transportation and Warehousing (~412,500 workers)
Though less publicized, this sector includes a significant number of undocumented workers in roles like:

Package handlers, warehouse laborers, movers, and delivery drivers (particularly for informal or subcontracted work).

Demand surged during the pandemic and remains high in major logistics hubs.

Undocumented workers often fill labor gaps in jobs that are physically demanding, underpaid, or undesirable to native-born workers. 2/x

A Comprehensive Argument for Supporting Ukraine
Supporting Ukraine is not just about defending one nation’s sovereignty—it is about preserving global stability, upholding international agreements, deterring future aggression, and preventing a larger, more costly war.

Every argument in favor of aiding Ukraine aligns with U.S. national security interests, historical precedent, and geopolitical strategy.

Below is a detailed breakdown of why the U.S. and its allies must continue supporting Ukraine until victory is secured.

1. The U.S. Has a Legal and Moral Obligation to Support Ukraine
A. The Budapest Memorandum (1994): A Broken Promise
In 1994, Ukraine voluntarily gave up the third-largest nuclear arsenal in the world—an arsenal it inherited after the fall of the Soviet Union. It had more nuclear warheads than China, France, and the U.K. combined. In exchange, the United States, the United Kingdom, and Russia signed the Budapest Memorandum, guaranteeing Ukraine’s territorial integrity and security assurances in return for denuclearization.
• Russia blatantly violated this agreement in 2014 by seizing Crimea and again in 2022 with a full-scale invasion.
• The U.S. and U.K. failed to enforce the security guarantees, showing the world that diplomatic agreements are meaningless if not backed by action.
• If the U.S. does not uphold its commitments, it will lose credibility on the global stage—why would any country trust a security agreement with America if Ukraine was abandoned?
Ā
B. The Precedent for Future Conflicts
If Russia is allowed to invade, occupy, and annex Ukraine without serious consequences, it will embolden other autocratic regimes to do the same:
• China will see this as a green light for an invasion of Taiwan.
• Iran will feel more empowered to threaten Israel and its neighbors.
• North Korea may resume direct aggression against South Korea.
Ā
In short, if Ukraine falls, global stability collapses. The U.S. has a vested interest in ensuring that illegal land grabs and military invasions are not rewarded.

2. Supporting Ukraine is the Most Cost-Effective Way to Weaken Russia
A. The U.S. Military is Not at Risk
• Unlike Afghanistan, Iraq, or Vietnam, no American troops are fighting in Ukraine.
• The U.S. is degrading a major adversary—Russia—without losing American lives.
• For a relatively small investment (a fraction of the U.S. defense budget), the U.S. is causing massive damage to the Russian military.
Ā
B. The Damage to Russia is Extensive
Ā Since 2022, Russia has lost:
• Over 300,000 troops killed or wounded.
• More than 2,500 tanks destroyed—greater than the entire inventory of some NATO nations.
• Thousands of armored vehicles, artillery systems, aircraft, and warships.
Ā
Without direct U.S. involvement, Ukraine is crippling Russia’s military capability for years, if not decades.
• If Ukraine falls, Russia will recover and become an even bigger threat.
• If Ukraine wins, Russia will be too weak to challenge NATO for a generation.
Ā
The smarter strategy is to keep supporting Ukraine now, so the U.S. doesn’t have to fight Russia later.

3. Putin’s Nuclear Threats Are a Bluff
A. Putin Has Threatened Nukes Before—and Done Nothing
Putin has repeatedly threatened nuclear war since 2022, yet:
• Ukraine has already attacked Russian soil multiple times—with U.S.-supplied weapons—and Russia has not escalated.
• NATO has expanded (Finland and Sweden joined)—yet Russia did nothing.
• Putin knows that using nuclear weapons would lead to Russia’s destruction. 1/x B. The U.S. Military Overwhelmingly Outmatches Russia
Ā If Russia were to use nukes, the U.S. would respond in kind, and the outcome for Russia would be catastrophic:
• The U.S. defense budget is nearly 7x larger than Russia’s ($968 billion vs. $146 billion).
• The U.S. has more aircraft, ships, advanced weapons, and nuclear second-strike capability.
• NATO has a collective military strength that dwarfs Russia.
Ā
Putin’s nuclear threats are psychological warfare designed to scare the West into inaction—but the reality is, Russia would not survive a nuclear exchange.

4. If Ukraine Loses, the U.S. Will Face a Much Bigger and More Expensive War
Ā
A. The Next Target Will Be a NATO Country
• Putin has already hinted that Poland and the Baltic states (Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia) could be next.
• Unlike Ukraine, these are NATO members—meaning the U.S. is legally obligated under Article 5 to defend them.
• If Russia invades Poland or the Baltics, U.S. troops WILL have to fight.
Ā
B. The Economic Consequences Will Be Severe
Ā If Russia is allowed to win and expand its power, the consequences will include:
• Higher energy prices, as Russia regains control over European energy markets.
• Global supply chain shocks, affecting wheat, grain, and rare earth metal production.
• Strengthened China-Russia-Iran alliances, further destabilizing global markets.
Ā
Stopping Russia in Ukraine is far cheaper than fighting a direct war later.

5. Diplomatic Solutions Without Security Guarantees Are Meaningless
Ā A. History Shows That Weak Peace Deals Lead to More War
• The Munich Agreement (1938) let Hitler take the Sudetenland, yet he invaded Poland a year later.
• The Budapest Memorandum (1994) let Ukraine give up its nuclear weapons, and Russia invaded anyway.
Ā
A peace deal with Russia that does not include real security guarantees will be meaningless.
Ā
B. The Only Way to End the War is Through Strength
Ā Russia must be militarily defeated or pressured into a settlement that guarantees Ukraine’s long-term security. Anything less is a temporary pause before the next invasion.
6. Final Argument: The Future of Global Order is at Stake
Ā
This war is not just about Ukraine. It is about whether the modern world accepts that might makes right or if international law and agreements still matter.
• If Ukraine wins, it proves that the free world can stand up to aggression.
• If Ukraine loses, the world becomes a place where dictators can invade, annex, and dominate with no consequences.
Ā
The United States must lead—not just because it is the right thing to do, but because it is in America’s best interest.
Ā
The Bottom Line: Support Ukraine, Because the Cost of Not Doing So is Far Greater
Ā
āœ… The U.S. has a legal and moral obligation to uphold its commitments.
āœ… Ukraine is weakening Russia without U.S. troops fighting.
āœ… Putin’s nuclear threats are empty—Russia would not survive escalation.
āœ… If Ukraine falls, the next war will involve NATO—and American troops.
āœ… History shows that weak peace agreements do not work.
āœ… Supporting Ukraine now is cheaper than fighting a direct war later.
Ā
The only real path forward is for the U.S. and its allies to fully back Ukraine until Russia is defeated or forced into a lasting, enforceable settlement. 2/x

- Hanlon In my opinion, this is a huge factor in the decision-making process regarding updating computer systems:

•Congress controls funding, and long-term IT investments are hard to justify politically when officials focus on short-term gains.

I’ll add: re-election is king.

As reported by CBS News October 2, 2024

Washington — U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan has made public a key filing from special counsel Jack Smith that includes evidence compiled in his investigation into former President Donald Trump's alleged efforts to subvert the transfer of presidential power after the 2020 election.

Smith submitted the highly anticipated 165-page filing under seal to Chutkan last week as part of additional proceedings taking place following the Supreme Court's decision on presidential immunity earlier this summer.
———————————————-
Comprehensive Summary of the Government's Motion Against Donald Trump's Claim of Immunity(ChatGPT)

1. Introduction and Overview (Pages 1-2)
The Government begins by setting forth its central argument: Donald Trump’s conduct related to the 2020 election does not fall under presidential immunity. Although Trump was the sitting president at the time, the Government asserts that his actions were taken in his capacity as a candidate seeking re-election, not as part of his official presidential duties. The argument is that presidential immunity only protects conduct that relates directly to the president's official responsibilities.
•Key Legal Principle: Presidential immunity does not shield actions taken for personal political purposes, such as attempting to overturn election results for personal gain. The Government’s goal is to establish that Trump’s actions fall outside the scope of immunity and that he should stand trial as a private citizen would. 1/xcbsnews.com/amp/news/trump… 2. Statement of the Case (Section I) (Pages 3-16)
This section outlines the factual basis for the Government's case, detailing Trump’s efforts to overturn the 2020 election results through various illegal means. The Government provides several specific examples of Trump's actions that demonstrate how he operated in a private capacity as a candidate, not in his role as president.
•Spreading false claims of voter fraud: Trump spread baseless conspiracy theories about widespread voter fraud, particularly targeting mail-in ballots. He propagated these falsehoods in speeches, public statements, and tweets.
•Pressuring state officials: Trump contacted officials in key swing states (Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin) to discard legitimate vote counts or "find" votes in his favor. A notable example is his phone call to Georgia’s Secretary of State, Brad Raffensperger, where he asked to ā€œfindā€ 11,780 votes to flip the state.
•Efforts to manipulate Mike Pence: Trump repeatedly pressured Vice President Mike Pence to block the certification of electoral votes on January 6, 2021, despite Pence’s role being constitutionally defined as ceremonial. Pence’s refusal to cooperate was met with public criticism from Trump.
•Incitement of the January 6th Capitol attack: Trump’s speech at the Ellipse on the morning of January 6, where he urged his supporters to march on the Capitol and disrupt the certification process, is presented as a central example of his illegal efforts to prevent the peaceful transfer of power.
•Key Takeaway: The Government paints Trump’s actions as part of a coordinated effort to retain power through deceit, coercion, and unlawful means. These actions are framed as being political and personal, not as part of his official presidential duties, which means they cannot be shielded by immunity. 2/x
