"GG was a class struggle" was a talking point a Gator I kept on a leash the whole time for infosec reasons kept trying to convince me.

Every time I see this screencap I just think of that and the historical damage done by "it's not race, it's class!" Like during GG there was this dude I would check in with every so often and I'd be like "so why am I being harassed, from your pov" and he'd go "you have economic power!" And I'd go "my dad's a used car salesman I'm putting myself through college "
And he'd go "connections!"

Hi all, Alexandria Leal here, you may recognize me from films such as "Five Foxes to Watch out for" and "Witches to Burn ! 2017" but today (and largely this week) I'm actually going to be doing some work *Gasp* and livetweeting as much of #yow19 Brisbane as I can. :) Would've gotten a headstart on it last week but it turns out that December is a super hard time for my PTSD and you're supposed to, vacation on this whole vacation thing so: spent last week doing both of those.

Okay! Surface charged up, I'll be livetweeting @lizthegrey 's talk at #YOW19 because she can't exactly livetweet her own talk (although I wouldn't put it past her to try :P) @lizthegrey Okay so Liz is talking about Detangling Complex Systems for @honeycombio
TL;DR "Unmanaged complexity is bad, 4 tips for how to manage that complexity" #Yow19

This is a really disturbing trend in tech and it seems to be that the teams making the decisions aren’t considering that features like this absolutely can and will be misused. Like, ask five transgender adults and you will get at least 2 horror stories about abusive parents. and this has been pointed out to these companies by activist groups. It’s been pointed out to MS, it’s been pointed out to Apple. I really really really hope that Android doesn’t implement policies like this. There’s an ethical duty to consider that these features can be misused.
