The Night Blitz on British cities had ended in May 1941 and since then London and other cities had enjoyed something of a respite from the sometimes nightly raids in 1940/41 However, by early 1943 London and the southeast began to experience what war-weary Londoners began to call "nuisance" or "tip and run" raids.
