THREAD/Today marks the 80th anniversary of one of the saddest and most notorious events of #WW2 in London. The Night Blitz on British cities had ended in May 1941 and since then London and other cities had enjoyed something of a respite from the sometimes nightly raids in 1940/41 St Paul's Survives - 29 December 1940 However, by early 1943 London and the southeast began to experience what war-weary Londoners began to call "nuisance" or "tip and run" raids. On 20 January 1943, circumstances conspired to a trail of death and destruction across Southeast London. This raid consisted of 28 FW190s FW 190 - IWM Photo Reference MH4190
