At the risk of being shouted down, I thought it would be appropriate to weigh in with a little 🧵 on MARS 2 from #WCLC23. The trial was beautifully presented by PI @ekslim and was certainly a tour de force to get done. I am interested in the data and in the response to it.
I should start by saying, that I don't really have skin in the game. I operate on very, very few patients with mesothelioma and have never been convinced that surgery helps this disease. Surgery is hard and not particularly satisfying. But....

Great to see the results of JCOG0802 published in @TheLancet. This is a practice changing trial (for at least some parts of the world) of lobectomy vs. segmentectomy for peripheral stage I lung cancer </=2cm. #lcsm#tssmn
The authors suggest that segmentectomy should now be the standard surgical procedure for these patients.
