Interesting convo w BIL after finally getting to host thanks to PlusLife. SF area liberal/high edu/affluent ppl in our network don’t see high rate of longcovid in their communities so don’t believe it’s high % risk. “Covid here to stay” so when will we stop being so careful? Validated they believe longcovid exists (but how can “everything” be from COVID & not pre existing, age etc); think “like the flu” it’s an illness that is part of life now & 99% of pop have been infected so what can even be done now. Willing to take risk like other risks in life

So…I went full tilt in a large local moms FB group countering COV1D misinformation. Lots of expected 🤣 emojis & anti vax + angry lockdown rhetoric, but a few did speak up saying they are suffering from #LongCovid or had a really bad experience with the acute stage recently 🧵 A couple shared they had to bring their infants to the ER 😔 My delivery isn’t very kind these days (I’m working on it) because I’m exasperated by the minimizing of this virus & behaviors directly hurting our communities…I’ve lost empathy in year 5 & see individuals as complicit

Sharing now that we’re in the clear without infection 😮‍💨 1 yr old’s surgery in June so had pre-op with the surgeon. I used language found in link below to push for Title III ADA reasonable accommodations including N95 on all staff. So extremely relieved in their response

Heard @Costco requires disabled people to unmask to take a photo (indoors with unmasked staff & customers) to renew or join as a new member. Several in our community had to refund memberships due to this dangerous policy. Why isn’t a license sufficient? ADA rights infringement? While we are at it - the DMV is terrifying for so many of us trying to avoid COVID. Taking a photo in-person vs simply being able to use digital options with proof of identity (ie social security card, passport or prior license, mail, etc) seems pretty archaic & discriminatory
