The Senate is hearing HB 1007. It appropriates hundreds of millions of dollars to university hospitals, but it says they can't use any of it for gender-affirming care. Link to the hearing: oksenate.gov/live-chamber
Link to the bill: oklegislature.gov/BillInfo.aspx?… Minority Leader Kay Floyd: There was a comment that the majority of Oklahomans don't support gender-affirming care. Where did you get that figure?
Senate Pro Tempore Greg Treat: We haven't done polling, but that is the consensus in who is reaching out to our offices. #okhealth

Idk growing up we didn’t really learn what fascism was. We heard Nazis were evil but not much about their platform outside of the genocide. Didn’t learn the difference between right and left authoritarians. A girl in my class once started a speech, “Hitler was a communist.” It was drama, speech and debate class and one of the few hippie edgelords in all of Muskogee was there with his copy of the communist manifesto in his bag and just looked at her so haggard. They were friends. What a time.

OU Health statement: The center was neber slated to offer GA care, and "The OU Health Senior Leadership team is proactively planning the ceasing of certain gender medicine services across our facilities and that plan is already under development." #okhealth Several conservative states have made gender-affirming care for minors a wedge issue, and it appears Oklahoma is joining the ranks.

GA care is not new. Here is a story @MegWingerter did on OU Health's program in 2019. oklahoman.com/story/lifestyl…

I had a helpful conversation with Dr. Aaron Wendelboe, a professor at OUHSC and former state epidemiologist, about waning antibodies this morning. Here's a little thread for anyone interested. #okhealth We keep hearing that after six months, you don't have "circulating antibodies anymore." That does not mean your immunity is gone.

Gov. Kevin Stitt and AG John O'Connor are giving an update on their legal fight against the Biden Administration regarding vaccine mandates. #okhealth Here's the link if you want to watch. Stitt repeats the quote that President Biden, right after his election, said he would not mandate the vaccine. top-ranking Republicans, such as U.S. House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy. Here's a look at that. washingtonpost.com/politics/2021/…

Saint Francis will be providing weekly information to the media — with the intent of informing the public — on COVID. As of now, 237 people are in the system with COVID. #okhealth We're getting a presser from them now.
Stream here:
newson6.com/videolivestrea… Dr. Cliff Robertson, president and chief executive officer of Saint Francis Health System: If the trends continue, we will have to delay care for certain patients to make room for COVID patients.

We're going to hear from Dr. Ryan Parker, an emergency medicine doctor.

The State Department of Health briefing has started. We'll be hearing from Commissioner of Health Lance Frye, Deputy Commissioner Keith Reed and Dr. Gitanjali Pai, the chief medical officer. #okhealth Frye: 50 percent of Oklahomans have received at least one dose. "I know this is no small task." We've been seeing a significant increase in COVID. We've spent a significant amount of time with hospitals, and the former surge plan is still in place.

We're getting the Healthier Oklahoma Coalition briefing. Dr. David Kendrick, Department Chair of Medical Informatics at OU School of Community Medicine is giving a statistics update. Dr. Kendrick shared this. Top is overall hospitalizations over time, trending down. But bottom is percent of cases hospitalized. Testing is low, so people aren't getting diagnosed until they're sick. But it does appear that Delta is more likely to cause hospitalization.

I'll be tweeting here. Will also be hearing from Brandy Wreath, Oklahoma Corporation Commission Public Utilities Division Director.

Secretary of Energy Ken Wagner: I'm thankful SPP has temporarily withdrawn their level 3 emergency announcement. That means no rolling blackouts for the time being. "We've dodged that bullet for a moment." Blackouts are already underway, though, so not sure if they mean moving forward there won't be any.

OK Corporation Commission meeting on the current power situation and proposal to lift caps on natural gas transmissions is starting. I'll be live tweeting on this thread. Oklahoma Corporation Commission will have an emergency meeting here in 15 minutes. Among other things, the commission will hear background on how we reached this power situation. They'll also hear a proposal on natural gas transmission, which could help the situation (continued) This is an oversimplification, and I am not an energy reporter, so bear with me. Oklahoma regulates how much natural gas companies can ship out to prevent gluts in supply, which can sink prices. The proposal will ask for a pause on that, so companies can send out more natgas.

We're getting an update on vaccinations from Deputy Commissioner of Health Keith Reed. About 600,000 Oklahomans have registered through the portal, and about 100,000 appointments have been scheduled. Reed: Keep in mind the scheduling portal is not the only way to get a vaccine. It is the way to get one through health departments and pandemic providers. You can contact pharmacies and doctors.

I'll do a couple of threads on interesting #okleg bills on health. Here is one on vaccines. HB 1653 by Rep. Humphrey requires drug makers to notify providers if their shots contain "human parts, animal parts, metals in any quantity, tracking devices, or any DNA-altering properties."

The Oklahoma Senate Health and Human Services Committee is hearing from the Oklahoma Health Care Authority, which administers Medicaid. I won't really be live tweeting but will share some highlights. OHCA CEO Kevin Corbett: OHCA's budget request is $210 million — close to 20 percent — over the prior year. "Suffice it so say a large part of that is expansion."

Oklahoma's coronavirus vaccine update has started. We're hearing from Commissioner of Health Lance Frye. "We have an appointment set for every single dose we have in Oklahoma." (As of this weekend, the state had administered about a third of its doses on hand.) Frye: We will have an appointment app, which will go live on Thursday. We will have more information on that then.

We're hearing from the Healthier Oklahoma Coalition. We're starting with an update on CDC recommendations from Dr. George Monks, president of the Oklahoma State Medical Association. Monks: The CDC is now recommending masks outside if you can't distance. Also, you should wear them within your own home if someone does have COVID in the home. Masks protect the wearer as well as the people around them.

But she LIED to the girlfriend for SIX MONTHS, saying she came out to them and told them about the gf that summer!! Like I knew she was blindsided but I didn’t know it was because the person she loves had deceived her about something so important! I hate her!!

The Oklahoma State Department of Health is holding a media availability right now. Commissioner of Health Lance Frye went back over their Thanksgiving recommendations. Now Deputy Commissioner Prevention & Preparedness Travis Kirkpatrick is giving a testing update. Kirkpatrick: The public health lab, in November, processed more than 132,000 tests. We've done 500,000 cumulatively since May, so that highlights the growth in tests. "We've seen some appetite increased for testing."
