(thread⬇️) Starting November 15 2022, until December 31 2023, if you’re an international student and have a study permit with off-campus work authorization, there will no longer be any limit on the hours you can work.

International Students: as we transition back to pre-pandemic requirements, we are extending distance learning measures to pursue your studies online from outside Canada while remaining eligible for a post-graduation work permit (PGWP) until August 31, 2023.

THREAD 🔽 If you’re already studying online from outside Canada, or you submit a study permit application before August 31, 2022, you will still be able to complete up to 100% of your program online without affecting PGWP eligibility.

Applications for the new pathway to permanent residence for essential workers and international graduates in Canada opens May 6 at 12:00 pm ET. We will accept applications until November 5, 2021, or until a stream has reached:
• 20,000 temporary foreign workers in health care
• 30,000 temporary foreign workers in selected essential occupations
• 40,000 international graduates from a Canadian post-secondary institution

We've launched an ambitious plan to accelerate caregiver application processing and reunite more caregivers with their loved ones. Here's how we'll do it: (THREAD) • finalize permanent resident applications for up to 6,000 caregivers who have completed their in-Canada work experience and their immediate family members by December 31, 2021;

Today Minister Mendicino announced a new pathway to permanent residence for over 90,000 essential workers and international student graduates who are actively contributing to Canada’s economy. Starting May 6, 2021, this pathway will allow eligible international graduates, who studied in Canada, as well as temporary workers in health care and other essential occupations, to apply for permanent residence.

Our new immigration levels plan for 2021–2023 sets out a path for responsible increases to the number of immigrants to help the Canadian economy recover from #COVID19 and lay the foundation for future growth. Highlights of the plan include: THREAD A focus on how immigration can help our economy, with approximately 60 per cent of immigrants to be chosen under economic immigration programs.

Today IRCC announced changes that are being implemented to provide more flexibility on eligibility rules for the Post-Graduation Work Permit Program for students who start their Canadian study program online from abroad. THREAD Students are now able to study online from abroad until April 30, 2021, with no time deducted from the length of a future post-graduation work permit, provided 50% of their program of study is eventually completed in Canada.

International students: we’re announcing new measures to help you start a new program online from outside Canada. THREAD You can now include the time you apply for a study permit, rather than when you were approved for one, towards a future post-graduation work permit. Students must eventually be approved for a study permit and complete more than 50% of their program in 🇨🇦.

To safeguard the continuity of trade, commerce, health and food security for all Canadians, we will be updating exemptions to travel restrictions to include foreign nationals who have already committed to working, studying or making Canada their home. THREAD PLEASE NOTE: Those affected by these exemptions should not try to travel to Canada immediately. We will announce when the exemptions are in place, which we anticipate will be early next week.
