International Students: we are temporarily lifting the 20-hour-per-week cap on the number of hours that students in Canada are allowed to work off-campus while class is in session: canada.ca/en/immigration…

(thread⬇️) Image Starting November 15 2022, until December 31 2023, if you’re an international student and have a study permit with off-campus work authorization, there will no longer be any limit on the hours you can work.

International Students: as we transition back to pre-pandemic requirements, we are extending distance learning measures to pursue your studies online from outside Canada while remaining eligible for a post-graduation work permit (PGWP) until August 31, 2023.

THREAD 🔽 If you’re already studying online from outside Canada, or you submit a study permit application before August 31, 2022, you will still be able to complete up to 100% of your program online without affecting PGWP eligibility.

Today Minister Mendicino announced a new pathway to permanent residence for over 90,000 essential workers and international student graduates who are actively contributing to Canada’s economy. Starting May 6, 2021, this pathway will allow eligible international graduates, who studied in Canada, as well as temporary workers in health care and other essential occupations, to apply for permanent residence.

Today IRCC announced changes that are being implemented to provide more flexibility on eligibility rules for the Post-Graduation Work Permit Program for students who start their Canadian study program online from abroad. THREAD Students are now able to study online from abroad until April 30, 2021, with no time deducted from the length of a future post-graduation work permit, provided 50% of their program of study is eventually completed in Canada.

THREAD You can now include the time you apply for a study permit, rather than when you were approved for one, towards a future post-graduation work permit. To safeguard the continuity of trade, commerce, health and food security for all Canadians, we will be updating exemptions to travel restrictions to include foreign nationals who have already committed to working, studying or making Canada their home.
