I had no idea the impact this story would have when I wrote it in 2016, just as #MeToo took off.

Allow me to share it again.

"In February of 1994 I spent an evening with Orville Redenbacher’s hand welded to my ass against my will. I was a talk show host at KHOW in Denver. There was a cross-promotion at the station with Redenbacher and it involved an in-studio interview, and both of us doing personal appearances at the Wyncoop Brewery (Governor Hickenlooper’s place).

So.... Humble Brag: We shot Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman at KTLA studios, in Hollywood. Also shot on that same lot at the same time was The Donny and Marie Show (the STORIES I have about them!), The Brady Variety Hour, Sha Na Na, What's Happening?!... The Chevy Chase Special (his first after leaving SNL), the Bob Hope Special and a string of telethons from the Los Angeles portion of the Jerry Lewis MD telethon to Toys for Tots.

Across the street at KTTV they taped One Day at a Time, Different Strokes, and Facts of Life.

This is my son, Eliot. He turned 33 two weeks ago.

Eliot had a heart attack this morning from Covid-19, and he's had it twice.

I am numb, and desolate because I can't even be with him at the hospital. I'm just sitting here, waiting for word on his condition. This is a nightmare Update on Eliot:

Today is my birthday, and the only thing I want is for my son to heal.

He has Covid-19 related costochondritis.

His chest is so swollen that it is squeezing his heart and lungs, and it feels like he’s having a heart attack. /2

Let me tell a story of the train-wreck Christmas destination wedding my husband and I spectated a few years ago in Mexico:

We'd gone to Cabo San Lucas around the holidays for some R&R, with some serious spa time planned, and rest on the beach.

And food. LOTS of food. 1/ On the Friday night of our trip we were too pooped to head into town for a fancy meal, and decided to just stay on property to eat and call it an early night.

We headed over for salads at what was basically a sports lounge and taco bar.

That where we saw The Happy Couple. 2/

A thread about mid-century advertising as it relates to sexism and racism:

Perhaps it's because I spent my childhood with a camera pointed at me, but I have a morbid fascination with ads created by white, upper middle class ad execs who thought racism and misogyny was cool. I fully admit to having a fondness for vintage recipe ads that induce the involuntary gag reflex. The grosser the better.

In the Before Time I amused myself & friends with disgusting ads that looked like vomit on a plate.

Once Trump seized power I no longer had the heart do it.
