is correct. It’s called an “Excise Tax;” and it’s a “Value Added Tax” as in Europe. It would be MINIMUM 25% here, on top of State & local sales taxes. Exempting food—like many States do—makes it more progressive. 1/🧵 @JoshFL321 & @DefiyantlyFree: Not only would a Value Added Tax—VAT—be on goods, but also services. Comparing to Britain at 20%, they spend 10.9% of GDP on health care, while we spend 17.6% of GDP, 6.9% just on Medicare & Medicaid alone. 2/🧵
