IG influencer - child doesn't feel well but didn't want to miss performing in her 1st Christmas Concert at school last week. Child started vomiting right after performing. Diagnosis - Strep A.

By the weekend the diagnosis turns to Scarlet Fever. Antibiotics prescribed. Last night pictured with parents and newborn baby at The Nutcracker Ballet live performance. It was fine as "she'd been on Antibiotics for 24 hrs and was no longer infectious."

My favourite Christmas song. It's always the first one I listen to every year. Fact - I actually don't love Christmas songs too much but this one moves me.

As a parent right now in BC this is a critical read. If your child gets this sick and has symptoms of strep or bacterial infection you are probably going to need to figure it out yourself. /1š§µ #bcpoli@Dave_Eby castanet.net/news/West-Keloā¦
If your child is this sick don't take any BS, insist they be airlifted to @BCChildrensHosp or at least a major hospital. Ask for a peds consult. Don't stay quiet and be polite as we were all taught. Get loud!

I want BC to say her name with me.
"Mavis Sharon Jeena Maxwell"
Mavis was an Indigenous 4 year and 2 day old beautiful soul when she died on Nov.12,2022 at Mills Memorial Hospital in Terrace, B.C.

Mavis needed critical care. Her parents were told she would be life flighted to another hospital but it never happened. Her parents waited and waited. They were told "it takes time" then they were told the de-icer at the airport was broken.

Let's look at the rights of children. In BC I don't see how we are protecting them or following the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child when it comes to their health and safety. 1/11š§µ
The special set of rights for children and young people (18 and younger) is called the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC). On November 20th, 1989 the UNCRC was unanimously adopted by the General Assembly of the United Nations.

Let's talk about the quiet parts out loud.
This is my account of what's been happening to children & families since September.
Keep in mind this is just my family but I think this story is happening in many BC families.

Family #1 - 2 parents, a 4 and 2 yr old. Dad and Mom both work union jobs with excellent benefits. Kids and parents constantly sick, going to GP, urgent care, and virtual appointments. Lots of prescriptions needed. Both parents have no sick days left.

I had the opportunity to chat with 2 BC Doctor's last night. One an ER Doc the other an Internal Medicine Doc. Both young and respected in their fields. First point, I was masked, they weren't. #bccovid19 š§µ
This was just a social conversation and of course anecdotal but to me terrifying and enlightening. They both think #bonniehenry is amazing and doing an excellent job. They both spoke of Covid in the past tense.

Of love and loss. I think most people have experienced the death of someone in their circle. For some it's outer circle people, it effects them, but it doesn't permeate their soul. They express condolences and move on. Death is part of life.
š§µ
For others it is someone in their inner circle. Someone who is an integral part of their life. Someone they can't imagine life without. No loss should be discounted but these losses change the fabric of one's being for eternity. You don't move past them.
