First is Primary Healthcare Fund (PHC). Basic outpatient services are capped at Kes.900 per person p.a to be offered by Level 2-4 facilities mapped under Primary Care Network.

Maternity Care: The inpatient services under Primary Healthcare Fund include Maternity (not just delivery) in Level 2-3. I note that Rhesus Negative mothers will get Anti-D, newborns with complications are also covered.

ANC and Postnatal care will be provided under PHC fund.

The Social Health Authority (SHA) replaces NHIF and will be responsible for:

2. Social Health Insurance Fund
3. Emergency and Chronic Illness Fund

Key to note is SHA admin expenses have been capped at 5% (NHIF once had 50%, currently about 15%)

Kenya Nutritionists and Dieticians Institute (KNDI) conducted a study in Kisumu, Nairobi and Mombasa about people’s perceptions of Royco Mchuzi Mix, a food additive present in almost every household in Kenya.
