There are so many things going on that it is hard to keep up with, but I drove home late Sunday night from Houston and I have never seen so many drivers going over 90 mph, including at least one going what had to be over 100 mph, in all my years of driving. Scary. At one point,
a car (a sport sedan, way too fast to see what it was) went by so fast and close on the almost-empty freeway that it shook my truck/camper (which probably outweighed it 2:1) like a jet going past. And then they took the next exit. I half thought they might be fleeing the police.

Musing about the word "expert" this morning, after seeing that term used in a way that I would not have. Seeing aside all the problems with privileging certain types of experts/expertise for a larger convo, I'm thinking about how we've conflated with the term with someone who
"knows a lot about what people have said about a subject" or can synthesize a lot of info about a subject. Is that expertise? While that is incredibly useful, especially synthesis that can be conveyed to a non-field specific (aka "lay") audience, that seems more like journalism

In light of Tesla's so-called "Full Self-Driving" (an inaccurate, dangerous name) release and the anniversary of Elaine Herzberg being killed by a negligent Uber AV test and chaperone driver, I'm re-upping my #AV talk. I'll follow up with some highlights.
