OK...so last up is 'decentralization'/blockchain/tokens/NFTs and DAOs. And that's a whole deep dive for another time. But enough to say that a lot of projects have a PERCEIVED economy, assumed sinks, and assumed inputs. You buy into a non-art NFT (something with implied utility) On faith. And all that ends up happening is that the economic issues with the decentralized project get...well, decentralized. And it's not to say that the wisdom of the crowd can't work wonders, but it doesn't suddenly NEGATE all of the issues above.

Virtual economies & micro transactions! It's Monday. So I bet you all want a bit of history and context. First off to say that @rex_woodbury always seems to nail it in communicating big ideas. But I wanted to dive a little bit deeper. Microtransactions have been around for...decades? We didn't always call them that. And there was a constraint. Because microtransactions generated significant economic value within the constraint of happening mostly INSIDE virtual economies.

One of the greatest inventions of @philiprosedale was C/M/T. Here's a primer for those of you who don't know (I'm getting old!) And how this relates to NFTs. @johntdaly I believe it was inspired, in part, by work with Lawrence Lessig and the idea of the Creative Commons. But Philip supercharged the idea. And it was this: that every piece of digital content could have three toggles: copy/mod/transfer.

Instead, I'll review it by way of a few posts that lift off key sections of the book. Stay tuned. /2
