As I do every year around this time, I am reflecting on the match process and where it falls short, particularly for applicants that are underrepresented in medicine. One change I would *love* to see is the elimination of sealed recommendation letters. They should all be open 1/8
Now, I heard that the Society of Neurological Surgeons are revising the current letter of recommendation guidance for the 2023 match, and I welcome any changes that make the process more open and transparent. I hope that the evaluation process will be open to the applicants 2/8

Basically, before we try immune therapy for brain tumors on people, we need a sign that it works. Many researchers treat mice that have brain tumors with the immune therapy first. This way, we can tell if the immune therapy boosts the immune system of mice to attack tumors #btsm

1/ This is coming later than most #BlackintheIvory stories, as I was trying to submit an @NIH grant on time. I did not - submit it on time - but I submitted it. But, now, I would like to tell a story I have been sitting on for 15 years. It was my 1st #nsgy interview #OkSoBoom2/ I was at a good medical school, Penn Med, was president of the med student government, good clerkship scores, but not AOA - felt good about interviewing, overall. But it was early October, and it was my only interview offer at the time, so I was nervous
