Actually, this is a common problem with a LOT of modern shows and movies in the last 20 years or so.

There is no sense of danger for the main character and his allies. They are way too op and can do anything as the villains despite being... 1/9 ...at this longer and being stronger are turn into a bunch of one note morons that makes you wonder "HOW THE HELL DID THEY GET POWER TO BEGIN WITH!?"

It's one of the reasons why I hate shows like the Owl House and its boring ass villains, Belos has been at this for decades...2/9

First of, the big difference is that Ben Grimm is Kirby's creation. The argument is about how new and terrible "creatives/writers" add their malfunctions and ideologies to characters they didn't create.

Second... Jack Kirby is a real-life badass who's seen hell and came back. The man has actual life experiences and has been through danger hell and was not a douchbag soy boy who the worst thing that ever happened to him was getting a splinter on his finger or having someone call him the wrong set of pronouns.

I've been having some conversations with some old timers... and I've realized something.

It's all happened before... all of it in one way or another.

In the 1960s, hippies were everywhere. Being a hippy was glorified in films, TV, fashion, and music and so on.

Image You had real hippies and people who pretended to be hippies. As time went on, and reality set in that utopia was not going to happen overnight, hippies got jobs, cut their hair, and gave up their bell bottoms and weed. Many became hippies in the 1980s but still gave up forward.

I'm so freakin tired of every culture or history... even fictional ones... having to all Resemble California.

For Christ sake... it's good that different cultures look different in both clothing an specific ethnicity, it's what set them apart and makes it easy to identify. Image And I'm so freakin' tired of them saying that "Because there's magic it would make sense."

Honestly I don't get why the Simpsons constantly tries to keep up with the times because Honestly it has created a lot of episodes that haven't aged well, they should have kept it in a 90s like world and brought in Parodies of the modern stuff but for that era and world. Image For example in my fictional world it has a 60s Retro-future astethics. And they have a thing similar to stream and podcasts... but instead of IPhones and YouTubes.

I'm talking world AESTHETICS, style and tech... I'm not talking cultural and historical.

I'm saying make your own version f earth built it with your view... mine would have a 60s to 80s vibe like the incridibles did with emphasis on the silver to semi-Bronze age of comics... While also having the world evolved different technology and culture wise because it's a world with God-like beings, magic and aliens around as common knowledge...

It would have cars, clothing, and slang from the era... but also be clear that it's not the age...

Agreed, I prefer effective, terrifying and serious villains that actually manage to succeed in the story, because not only they are a clear threat, they give better light on the hero when they actually manage to win.

That's why villains like Soundwave and Xanatos are so... ImageImage Perfect and iconic.

They don't joke around, they are pure threats that scream "If the hero messes up just once around them they will die." plus they don't really lose, they only win with certain inconveniences that most of the time they let slid because it's so insignificant.
