I’ve never seen so many people so quiet and respectful.

This truly is a country in mourning. #QueenElizabeth 🇬🇧 In the background is the home of Prince Charles until 10 days ago.

With classes now underway, it's time to explain why public schools have lost so many students – and why so many students took gap years rather than be "taught" online… (1/x)

k12dive.com/news/public-sc… The reason is simple: Parents who actually observed their kids’ classes for the first time were shocked to find what their children were (not) learning and said "ENOUGH!"

It happened nationwide, and it’s far from over. (2/x)

CBS calls it the “Capitol Assault Hearings.”

NBC calls it “the January 6th hearings.”

ABC calls it the “Attack on the Capitol.”

These banners at the bottom of the screen make a difference in how people perceive the information. #January6th It took 9 minutes for the hearing to show something other than a politician delivering a teleprompter speech.

That’s too long.

I have 10 students watching with me… And they aren’t watching anymore. They’re more interested in talking to each other than watching the screen.

If you compare U.S. gun deaths to all countries, we’re nowhere near the top. (That list is led by El Salvador, Venezuela, and Guatemala.)

If you compare U.S. gun deaths to high-income nations, we’re at the top by a country mile: healthdata.org/acting-data/gu… If you name your podcast “BASED,” you should at least be competent at reporting relevant context.

I conducted a nationwide research study of Ukrainians with @PremiseData just days before the Russian invasion.

The results (like the invasion that has followed) are staggering.

Three examples… 🧵 @premisedata 1.) 65% of Ukrainians want the U.S. to be Ukraine's primary military and economic partner.

Just 12% chose Russia.

The Russians now control Chernobyl.

These are my photographs from 3 years ago. This is what they did to that city. The city is a true ghost town.

The people who lived there back then are all dead, poisoned by nuclear contamination.

The Russians told the world that there was no issue… They lied then, and they are lying now.

Every CEO you see now talks about being “inclusive” and treating their employees better – but people don’t believe most of them.

However, my focus group co-hosted with ConversateLab.com felt that @GM CEO Mary Barra (@mtbarra) was genuine. 🗣 “What advise would you give CEOs to keep employees from quitting?”

ConversateLab.com got to the biggest point of all during our focus group with Americans who changed jobs over the pandemic.

At the end of each year, I think about my successes, my failures, and what I could’ve done better.

I will present these #LuntzLifeLessons over the next 10 days to encourage the thoughtful conversation and respectful reflection we all want, need, and deserve. This #LuntzLifeLessons thread is dedicated to my students all across the globe. You have made my life meaningful and purposeful, and I should at least try to do the same for you.

But since this is Twitter instead of a classroom, all lessons will be taught with memes. 😆 Image

This should be the top story in American media right now, because its effects will be felt by all Americans. This will affect Americans’ lives a lot more than the latest White House tell-all book.

News media need to prioritize it.

On Wednesday night, I hosted a focus group with 20 Americans who still haven’t gotten vaccinated.

But one participant changed her mind after another one said vaccines “haven’t been proved to prevent infection, they just reduce your symptoms.” (i.e. Keep you out of the hospital.) I know @seanhannity has backtracked on his pro-vaccine comments from Tuesday night, but his original comments weren’t very convincing to vaccine-hesitant Americans either.

“That seemed like a statement he had to read due to bad publicity.”

I hosted a follow-up group with Republican voters who were still hesitant about the COVID vaccine.

Their most common reason: “We don’t know the long-term side effects.”

👉🏻 wapo.st/2RP3aLI My focus group of vaccine-hesitant voters say the media is making COVID information more confusing.

“If you put on CNN and Fox News, you’ll get completely contradictory information."

Over the weekend, the @deBeaumontFndtn and I hosted a focus group with 20 vaccine-hesitant Trump voters.

Nearly all said they had more fears about the COVID vaccine than they did about COVID.

👉🏻 wapo.st/38IslFk Much of the group’s doubt toward the COVID vaccine comes from the overall politicization of the pandemic.

“If you want us to ‘trust the science,’ then politics have to be taken out of it.”

On the eve of the #Inauguration, I held a focus group of ½ Biden voters and ½ Trump voters.

Here are some words they used to describe America right now:

• “Seeking solutions”
• “Divided”
• “Deceased”

Things escalated quickly from there… 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗜 𝘀𝗮𝗶𝗱:
I hosted a focus group last night

It went completely off the rails.

Last night, I hosted a virtual focus group with 14 Trump voters.

First, I asked them who they think won the election – then I asked them where they get their news from. “When I went to bed, we were up in Pennsylvania. When I woke up, 900k votes all of a sudden went to Biden? It doesn’t make sense.”

I asked my focus group of Trump voters why they think the 2020 election was “rigged.”

My focus group last night was lit, as the children say.

First up: I asked participants for 1 word to describe the news media. (“Emissaries of Satan” counts as 1 phrase.) “Fox has become one of them.”

My focus group of Trump voters now considers Fox News no different from the “hard left” media.

Over the weekend, I did a poll of Trump voters after the storming of the U.S. Capitol.

I asked them what was the greatest threat to America’s security. Their top responses:

• Socialism: 𝟭𝟲%
• The Radical Left: 𝟭𝟱%
• Fake News Media: 𝟭𝟱%

More findings in this thread… Image I asked 800 Trump voters about the 2020 election.

• 78% agree with Trump’s claims that it was “stolen.”

• 67% believe if you count the votes “accurately and fairly,” Trump would win.

Respondents were weighted to reflect the Trump electorate by age, gender, ethnicity and edu. Image

I was critical of Democrats in 2016 for whining after Trump’s win.

I am critical today of Republicans for whining after Trump’s defeat. If you opposed Democratic ugliness in 2016, you need to oppose Republican ugliness today.

Both Loeffler and Perdue can win tomorrow’s #Georgia Senate runoffs.

But it’ll require good GOP turnout and minimal meddling from Lin Wood. Right now in #Georgia, there are election signs everywhere – I’m seeing about 10 Democratic signs for every GOP sign.

Of course, as we saw in November, signs don’t vote. Image

There are 40,000 people arriving in Dubai for their annual @GITEXTechWeek technology conference.

Dubai is becoming the Silicon Valley of the Middle East — except it’s live and in-person. For the first time at #GITEX2020, Israel is welcome.

I hear Hebrew spoken throughout all the hotels, talking about clean energy, food security, ending poverty. Israelis and Arabs sitting together, working together, solving problems together.

It’s the sound of peace. Image

I’m back in Pennsylvania. This time for a Kamala Harris rally in Philadelphia.

One carload of people I interviewed were pleasantly surprised to learn that @JohnLegend will be performing tonight. These drive-thru interviews are much easier to do now that I’m no longer fat.

The people in this Jeep said they support Joe Biden “because he will unite the country and is prepared to not work with only Democrats.”
