A Fano is a member of a non-political, non-religious community self-defense movement constituted out of ordinary citizens from all walks of life, religion, sex, age etc. - at times of organized attack. The name also applies to a group of Fanos. 1/5
Their most recent action was against #TPLF invasion of Amhara lands, looting, rape, and destruction between Summer and Fall of 2021.
In the past, they resisted Italian invasions, and past attacks by the then #TPLF-controlled Ethiopian Government for the 27 years until 2018. 2/5

- priorities on the part of the organizations or the victims may change,
