THREAD: In June of 2020 I created the NH Commission on Law Enforcement Accountability, Community, & Transparency. Since, we've taken historic steps to transform NH's law enforcement system & today the Executive Council approved funding to equip @NH_StatePolice with body cameras. In October of 2020 I endorsed all recommendations made by the Commission in their final report and issued an Executive Order to immediately adopt and implement over 20 of their recommendations. Today's action delivers on continued reform to move NH in the right direction. 2/4

THREAD: Late tonight Joe Biden quietly tried to reverse his Peace Officers Memorial Day Proclamation, hoping no one would notice they are no longer calling for flags to fly at Half Staff across the USA honoring our men women in blue. This is outrageous and precedent breaking. 1/ On May 10th, the Biden Administration announced in a release flags would be flying at Half Staff across the country to honor our heroes on the front line. Tonight, in the eleventh hour, the Biden Administration is now no longer calling for flags to fly at Half Staff. 2/

THREAD: Today I joined a bipartisan group of 21 other governors raising the alarm over the $1.9 trillion COVID relief bill. Its passage would send the unmistakable message that Washington politicians expect New Hampshire taxpayers to subsidize poorly run, cash-strapped states. This new bill, passed in the dead of night, would bail out poorly managed states at the expense of New Hampshire taxpayers. Here’s why:

THREAD: In the next few days, I will be signing an Executive Order requiring that, starting March 8, all K-12 schools must provide the option of in-person learning at least 2 days a week. Across the state, close to 60% of schools are currently learning in a hybrid model, 40% have in-person learning 5 days a week, and only a few still operate fully remotely. This Executive Order will mandate that all students be given the option to learn in-person. 2/

THREAD: I’m proposing a historic, transformative, merger between the University System of NH and the Community College System of NH, forming the New Hampshire College and University System. This is a transformative moment for higher education in New Hampshire, and will turn 11 separate, competing colleges into one unified system. NH will go from 11 to one.

THREAD: The State of NH is distributing an additional email and text message communication to the 300,000+ individuals eligible within Phase 1B to identify those who may require additional information or assistance in scheduling their vaccine appointment. If you’ve already scheduled an appointment with a confirmed time, date, and location – no further action is needed. /2

NEW: Today I authorized the @NHNationalGuard to support a request from the National Guard Bureau to send approximately 50-soldiers & airmen to Washingtonfor the upcoming Inauguration. Ensuring a peaceful and orderly transition of power is of paramount importance to our nation. 1/ With this authorization, the men and women of our NH National Guard will be deployed to our Nation’s Capital to protect and defend democracy. The NHNG is among the best of the best – & I join the people of New Hampshire in praying for them as they take on this critical mission 2/

THREAD: This lawsuit is led by Children’s Rights Incorporated – a special interest group, backed by Wall Street law firms, which preys on child protection programs across the country. 1/

While some states have issues they need to address, here in NH we have made more progressive reforms to our state’s child welfare system than any administration in history. 2/

THREAD: Today I announced that the 2021 outdoor Inaugural Ceremony has been cancelled amid ongoing public safety concerns. My first responsibility is ensuring the safety of my family and our citizens. 1/ For weeks, armed protesters have increasingly become more aggressive, targeting my family, protesting outside my private residence, and trespassing on my property — an outdoor public ceremony simply brings too much risk. 2/

THREAD: Effective tomorrow, the State will be issuing a statewide mask mandate. This is not a decision that came lightly, and many factors were taken into consideration with regards to the data, the impact, and the effects on our citizens. Let me explain: As with many mask mandates across the country, this mandate will apply to all indoor public spaces and outdoors when social distancing cannot be maintained.

THREAD: Today NH will be submitting our application to @FEMA to participate in @POTUS’s Lost Wages Assistance Program – which will provide additional federal unemployment relief of $300 per week to Granite Staters. On August 8, the President signed an Executive Order allowing states to opt-in to the Lost Wages Assistance Program - additional federal unemployment relief of $300 per week, provided there's a 25% state match. THREAD: Today we're announcing SELF - the New Hampshire Self Employed Livelihood Fund - which builds off the success of the Main Street Relief Fund to support self-employed Granite Staters. The application period will go live on July 6 and continue through July 17.

Eligible self-employed businesses in NH must meet the following criteria:

THREAD: Today, I announced that the State of New Hampshire will be issuing a Stay-at-Home order and directing all non-essential businesses that have not already voluntarily closed to end in-person and public-interacting operations by 11:59 PM tomorrow, March 27, 2020. Over the past 24 hours we have received calls & requests for a mandatory shelter in place. This is not a shelter in place. No one will be prevented from leaving their home & the state is not closing its borders. In taking these actions, we are aligning with our regional partners.

THREAD: In just the last week, we've taken unprecedented action to combat against the spread of #COVID19, protect New Hampshire families, and provide relief for affected Granite Staters. Here's what you need to know about the steps we've taken: ⚠️On March 13, I declared a State of Emergency in New Hampshire and opened our Emergency Operations Center to ensure a level of consistency, coordination, and preparedness between the state, local emergency management officials, and our healthcare system.

Today I am issuing three additional Emergency Orders that will help provide relief for those affected by COVID-19. We are taking steps to help Granite Staters, ensuring they have support & services for themselves, their families, & their businesses throughout this crisis.
