My administration has been monitoring #HurricaneFiona and working to provide necessary support and resources.

I know many New Yorkers are worried about loved ones in Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic, so I wanted to share an update on the latest: While there has been some progress in the last 24 hours, Puerto Rico is experiencing significant challenges:
- 1.2 million people have no power
- 27% of the island has no water
- 1,301 people are in temporary shelters

All hospitals are operational at this time.

To our neighbors in Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, and all impacted by Hurricane Fiona: We are with you.

New York State is providing assistance and we will continue to offer support in the recovery from this storm. Answering the call to serve already, @nyspolice is sending 50 troopers to Puerto Rico this week, along with other officers.

As needs continue to arise, we will remain ready to provide help and resources wherever necessary.

Our top priority has always been keeping kids in school and making sure our classrooms are safe.

Now, with COVID cases declining by 98% since the Omicron peak and updated @CDCgov guidance in place, we will lift the statewide school mask requirement this coming Wednesday. New York is moving in the right direction in our fight against COVID:

✅ #1 for fully vaccinated teenagers and #2 for fully vaccinated kids 5-11

✅ The lowest 7-day average of pediatric cases since July, before school began

✅ Pediatric hospitalizations have declined by 80%

Looking at the seven-day average of cases per 100,000 New Yorkers, we see:
- December 10 (the day we instituted our statewide mask-or-vaccine protocol): 51 per 100,000
- January 9 (peak): Nearly 382 per 100,000
- Today: Under 35 per 100,000 The numbers are clear: we’re seeing major improvement on the key metrics we've been tracking throughout the pandemic:

⬇️ Hospitalizations are down
⬆️ Hospital capacity is up
⬆️ Vaccines and booster rates are up

While New York is recovering, too many been left behind.

That’s why we are announcing a major investment in our tourism workers and businesses to help this critical industry get back on track. ⬇ 1⃣ Opening a business is no easy task, but it is someone’s passion and dream.

But New Yorkers who recently opened their business haven’t been able to access federal or State relief. I’m introducing legislation for a $200M fund to help them succeed.

The bipartisan infrastructure bill delivers big for New York. Here’s how: Transportation funding is coming to our state in:

🚗$175M for electric vehicle infrastructure

It’s time for a Penn Station that meets the needs of New Yorkers.

Today I’m proud to announce our new vision for Penn Station. ⬇ The cramped caverns of today will disappear. Our plan creates a grand, single-level train hall — bigger than the Grand Central & Moynihan train halls combined.

And we’ll make it easier to get around, adding 18 more escalators and stairs & 11 new elevators. 2/

Vaccine Booster Update: Following the CDC’s recommendation - as of today - booster doses are available in New York State for those who received Pfizer as their primary vaccine AND are 65+ or 50+ with underlying medical conditions AND had their 2nd dose at least 6 months ago. 1/ Those 18-49 with underlying medical conditions & individuals with high-risk occupations or institutional settings AND had their 2nd Pfizer dose at least 6 months ago MAY also receive a booster & should make a decision with their doctor based on individual risk & benefit. 2/

In preparation for Monday's vaccination deadline for health care workers, today I am releasing a comprehensive plan to address preventable staffing shortages in hospitals and other health care facilities statewide. If necessary, I’m prepared to sign an executive order to increase workforce supply and allow qualified health care professionals licensed in other states or countries, recent graduates, retired and formerly practicing health care professionals to practice in New York.

To help slow the spread of the #DeltaVariant and reopen our economy safely, I'm announcing a series of universal mask measures.

Thread ⬇ Face coverings for kids age 2+, all staff & visitors, are now required at @NYSOCFS-licensed/registered child care centers, home-based group family & family child care programs, after-school child care programs, and enrolled legally exempt group programs during operational hours.

When I became Governor, I made it clear that it was a top priority to get relief money out the door as fast as possible to NYers struggling from pandemic-related economic hardship.

Today I'm pleased to announce major progress in getting pandemic relief to NYers in need. Close to $400M in rental assistance has been paid out—nearly double the amount in the past 3⃣ weeks

This will enable tenants at risk for eviction to stay in their homes and helping struggling landlords to recoup unpaid rent.

Abortion access is safe in New York and the rights of those who are seeking abortion services will always be protected here.

Today, joined by @gillibrandny, @AndreaSCousins, @RepMaloney, and so many others, I announced a full agenda to affirm those rights in our state. In this plan to protect abortion rights:

✔️State agencies will coordinate a statewide public info campaign

✔️@HealthNYGov will develop & distribute provider guidance & education on abortion care

✔️DOH will update regulations to make medication abortions more accessible
