We end the first week under Lockdown 3 and there's not a lot of good news, if any, to report in the weekly roundup of coronavirus across Devon and Cornwall - and things will probably get worse before they better and the effect of lockdown starts to impact the figures A total of 5,120 new cases new cases were confirmed across the two counties – the highest weekly total so far (although comparisons with the Spring cannot be made due to lack of testing) – as the total for the two counties rises over 30,000.

As another week of lockdown passes, we've seen the drop off in cases we'd expect to see, as the number of new coronavirus cases confirmed across Devon and Cornwall have nearly halved in the previous seven days – with cases falling everywhere. A total of 1,266 new cases have been confirmed across the two counties – the lowest since the week ending October 16 – and Friday’s figure of 97 cases is the first ‘double figure’ total since October 2. Cornwall, Plymouth, the South Hams and Torbay see a more than 50% drop.

All of Devon placed in Tier 2 - what it means - I've put in messages to all the MPs to see what their reaction is and whether they'll be voting for the measures

devonlive.com/news/devon-new… Why Devon is in Tier 2 - Case rates are 121/100,000 overall though there are higher rates in Plymouth, Torbay and Exeter. The case rate in the over 60s is 85/100,000 though significantly higher in Exeter (155.9/100,000). Positivity is 4.2%. There is pressure at the RDE Hospital.

Two weeks into Lockdown 2, and the highest number of weekly coronavirus cases confirmed in the last seven days across Devon and Cornwall has been recorded – but most areas are now seeing cases fall (and this week includes the weird Saturday where everything was double) More than 2,000 new coronavirus cases have been confirmed in the last seven days across the two counties, taking the total since the beginning of the pandemic to 15,982.

There seems to be some confusion around the confirmation yesterday from Cornwall Council that 170 new cases were confirmed at the Pilgrim’s Pride food factory in Pool - as far as I know, these are not 'new cases' but the total of ones already reported Since the first announcement about the outbreak, there have been 284 cases confirmed across the whole of Cornwall - the vast majority of which have been in and around the Camborne, Pool and Redruth area where there are currently eight areas where clusters of cases confirmed

EXCLUSIVE - University of Exeter students living within the city are being asked not to meet indoors with anyone not part of their households for the next fortnight. More than half of the cases confirmed in the previous week across Exeter are attributable to the University – mainly from students unwittingly arriving having already been infected elsewhere in the country and passing it onto the housemates.

I mentioned last night that there had been a spike in cases in Exeter, with 15 recorded yesterday, 11 from Sep 20. It can now be confirmed that these cases are mainly linked to students at the University of Exeter who had already contracted coronavirus before arriving It is understood that the majority of them were asymptomatic and the positive cases were identified via the saliva testing that the Uni are doing for staff and students. All positive cases and households now self-isolating, and no evidence yet of onward community spread

After conceding with 90 seconds, it could have a tough afternoon for #ecfc, but in the end, they will be disappointed not to have got the three points. Were much the better side for the rest of the first half and missed enough chances to be out of sight Salford bounced back well and perhaps just about did enough with the second half performance to deserve a point. Bowman, Jay, and Randall were excellent going forward, although the final cutting edge of taking the chances they created was, as has been through pre-season, lacking

East Devon District Council has tonight voted by 33 votes to 22, with one abstention, to withdraw from the Greater Exeter Strategic Plan. The GESP was due to provide the overall strategy and level of housing and employment land required up to 2040 It would have covered the Exeter, East Devon, Mid Devon and Teignbridge area, and they had been asked to go out to consultation on the draft policies and site options document. Exeter and Teignbridge said yes but tonight, East Devon has pulled out (and Mid Devon may do next week)
