"Dr, You are a Sikh, aight? You belong to a warrior race"

I hear this often now, from patients to strangers here.
And whenever anyone says this to me here, I just close my eyes and bow my head to our predecessors, who gave us this great identity.

#Turban is more than a pride. My friend Dr Kawaljit Singh, a Sydney based Geriatrician, was amazed when a caucasian stranger came to him and said THANKS.
That stranger told him that his late father fought WW II along with a Sikh Regiment and his life was saved by gallant turbaned comrades……1/2

15 yrs ago, at 0920hrs on Oct 8th, it was a sort of rebirth, after me and my fellow officer were extricated quickly from the debris.
Buried in earthquake at Uri while sitting in field hospital’s MI room, I thought it to be a blast initially. But at 7.6 Richter scale, ground was.. Just not shaking, it was undulating. We hid beneath the sturdy table and that saved us.
Those thoughts can’t be penned down easily.
I was initially treated in an open ground for the injuries.
Main issue was difficult breathing due to lot of dust in mouth/nostrils.
