Chair @RepGregoryMeeks: I'm extremely concerned by the brutal PNC and ESMAD response to protests in Colombia. I'm particularly alarmed by developments in Cali and call on President @IvanDuque to deescalate the violence and make clear that excessive use of force is inexcusable. It is imperative that U.S. Leahy Law is fully implemented as we make clear that the United States will not support security forces involved in severe human rights violations.

“How a fake persona laid the groundwork for a Hunter Biden conspiracy deluge” via @BrandyZadrozny / @oneunderscore__ / @NBCNews

We’re not surprised.

Read this thread to find out why… 1/

nbcnews.com/news/amp/ncna1… When the Committee received the @StateDept records that were meant to smear the Bidens, we discovered, of course, they were a nothingburger, but we did find something interesting. 2/ foreignaffairs.house.gov/press-releases…

🧵A THREAD:
Chairman @RepEliotEngel: The failed May 3rd raid in #Venezuela looked like a bad Jack Ryan episode, but it’s no laughing matter. Anything that further delays a democratic transition is truly heartbreaking for the #Venezuelan people. (1/8) The best and only way forward is full and complete transparency about the raid, so we can focus on what really matters – alleviating Venezuela’s humanitarian crisis and paving the way for a return to democracy. Chairman @RepEliotEngel: @WOLA_org is right. As Latin American governments work to combat #COVID19, we must make sure that human rights are respected and the most vulnerable communities are taken care of. (1/5) Enforcing social distancing is not an invitation to detain those who violate special curfew orders.

In El Salvador, 1,200+ Salvadorans have been arbitrarily detained for violating curfew. This clearly goes too far. (2/5)

CHAIRMAN @RepEliotEngel ON HIS CALL WITH JOHN BOLTON:

"President Trump is wrong that John Bolton didn’t say anything about the Trump-Ukraine Scandal at the time the President fired him. He said something to me." "After Amb Bolton’s departure as national security advisor, my staff reached out to him at my request. I’ve known Amb Bolton for years; we have a cordial & respectful relationship & I wanted to thank him for his service. I also wanted to ask if he would talk to @HouseForeign."

CHM @RepEliotEngel: Documents turned over to @HouseIntel by Lev Parnas include a profoundly alarming dialogue between Mr. Parnas & Robert Hyde, a Trump donor. The messages suggest a possible risk to Amb Marie Yovanovitch’s security in Kyiv before she was recalled from her post. "Yesterday, @HouseForeign staff contacted @StateDept’s Bureau of Diplomatic Security to flag this info & seek assurances that proper steps have been taken to ensure the security of Embassy Kyiv & that of Ambassador Yovanovitch. I’m grateful for the Department’s quick response..."

The President's allies are using a leak that originated at the @StateDept to smear a career ambassador and intimidate a key witness in the impeachment inquiry. Let's set the record straight. @StateDept First of all, the @StateDept should stop leaking documents that Republicans are using to wage misleading attacks on a Department employee & instead produce documents we've subpoenaed & that the White House has told them to hide. We know you’ve got them: intelligence.house.gov/uploadedfiles/…
